I think the issue of dismissing Blatt, if Blatt wasn't doing anything or was "lame duck" you would not of had public support given by the owner and the front office. Lue may have alot of input but WHO CARES, the purpose of a coaching staff is to have input.

I understand where people like Douglar are coming from, but I see the public support of Blatt from the organization as evidence that Blatt's impact is real, and it is positive.

Guess we find out for sure this summer.

Interesting article on David Blatt. Even smart writers like Zach Lowe have been killing the Cavs all playoffs for the isolation offense and this suggests that they're clueless about what's actually happening.

I would like to see us develop the offense a bit more to incorporate Kevin on the block/elbow a bit more. However, if the isolation is working, there is no reason to move away from it as a significant staple of our offense.

The Israeli posters told us Blatt will adjust to whatever suits his players best, that article certainty supports that statement.

I'll caveat this by saying that Blatt has done a great job in the postseason. I haven't checked the stats, but it seems like most of the time when the Cavs have gone with a Lebron-less lineup they've held their own or extended leads. It leads me to wonder why they can't get a few more minutes out of the Marions of the world, or slide JR to the 3 to get Lebron more rest so he isn't so exhausted at the end of the game. If the team is going well, get Lebron 5 mins rest instead of 3. In the second half get him a couple of minutes late 3rd or start of the 4th instead of playing him the entire 2nd half. I think fatigue is behind some of the 4th quarter lulls the team has had.

Blatt is basically playing 7 guys (8th guy getting token minutes) and often he's pretty much running 3-4 guys the last half of the 3rd and entire 4th quarters. Seems like the Cavs would be better prepped for the stretch run with Lebron, for example, playing 37 minutes instead of 42. If the team was giving up big runs w/him out of there I could see the dilemma, but that hasn't really been the case.

This is the one area of Blatt's that has seemed a little, uh, Mike Brown-ish.

You do realize that the "troll" you are referring to is a moderator, right? He has 16,000+ positive ratings to your 72. If you can't see the quality of his posts just because he has a different opinion than you, then I'd say you're the troll.

while dougar maybe a mod, he even admits he was going out on a limb. Now if he knows something the rest of us dont thats one thing. But to say that Blatt isnt calling the defense or he "only does 4 things" is almost a laughable statement. Right now the rag tag roster around lebron is basically both the highest rated defensive and offensive ranked team in the playoffs this year (i think they slipped to 2nd in offense after the last game). Like i said its one thing if Dougar knows something, and maybe he does. But on the surface it sure looks like Blatt is doing one hell of a job.

I think that Blatt has seen poor results whenever he's gone to Miller or Marion or Perkins or Harris....of those 4 maybe Marion has been best at just holding his own out there. Even Jones looked feeble at times but seems to be stepping up his hustle. I think the case can be made that Mike Miller cost the Cavs game 1 of the Chicago series. I think at times he will bring in a guy like Marion or Perkins in for a few minutes say if we have a lead or he thinks there's an opposing player on the floor that won't totally abuse them. I feel like he tried overall to use a bit more of a rotation but the results were so bad that he was forced to just lean heavier on the guys who were producing. Right now Delly and James Jones are both playing solid basketball which is kind of holding it all together until Kyrie can get back.

it was left out, but i believe LeIso is the most effective/efficient play in the league, and has been for quite some time. I would imagine that the Kyrie ISO while not as effective has to still be pretty damn good. When you have 2 guys that can very easily create for themselves AND others it allows more options.

im not ready to call blatt a genius for letting lebron be lebron, and clearly lebron needs help sometimes, but LeIso clearly works.

That's just not true

He's not even the best at iso on the team.

Ky averages 1.1 pts/poss, lbj is at like .9 or something. Well below oue teams average efficiency

Regarding what has been written here about Kerr-Blatt's situation last summer:

"The intersections of the Cavaliers and Warriors promise to be intriguing, and push past the two best players. On the night before Cleveland coach David Blatt started negotiations on a Cavaliers contract in June, he was on his way to Cleveland International Airport to fly to Golden State and accept the job as Kerr's top assistant.

Hours earlier, Blatt had impressed owner Dan Gilbert and his partners in several hours of discussions. In Blatt's mind, he still suspected the Cavaliers job was a long shot, and had been running out of time to accept Kerr's offer with Golden State. He wanted to come to the NBA, and thought that $1 million a season to run the Warriors' offense could catapult him into a head-coaching job. The Cavaliers had no idea they would be signing LeBron James, nor trading for Kevin Love. They were hiring Blatt to bring order to a young team, hiring him for a rebuild.

Over the next several hours on that mid-June day, Cavaliers officials made a few final calls for recommendations on Blatt, including USA Basketball officials and a Big Ten Conference coach who had studied several seasons of Blatt's Euro offense that spring. Before Blatt could leave for the airport, they called his agent, Mike Tannenbaum, and suggested that Blatt forgo climbing onto that plane. Blatt was the choice, and Kerr had his cue to make his move for Alvin Gentry."

Blatt with a giant STFU to everyone.

Bud, "Spurs-East," "Spurs-Lite," "beautiful basketball," "basketball played the right way," got destroyed beyond recognition. Obliterated.

Funny how the narrative keeps changing around the internet: "Hawks are the worst #1 seed ever, Hawks have no stars, theyre injured, Bulls aren't that good, the East sucks, excuse, excuse, excuse."

Sit down, shut the hell up, and give proper recognition to Blatt and staff. NOBODY predicted this type of ass-kicking. Nobody.
