Gotta be happy for David Blatt. Dude comes over here from Israel with few "friends" in the league, goes through a bunch of crap, gets little media credit, and has really shown his mettle in the playoffs.

So happy for Blatt. So much crap from local/national writers, talking heads, nay-sayers etc he's had to put up with and he's in the Finals.

Not done yet but Good Gravy, it's been a helluva ride so far.

Blatt with a giant STFU to everyone.

Bud, "Spurs-East," "Spurs-Lite," "beautiful basketball," "basketball played the right way," got destroyed beyond recognition. Obliterated.

Funny how the narrative keeps changing around the internet: "Hawks are the worst #1 seed ever, Hawks have no stars, theyre injured, Bulls aren't that good, the East sucks, excuse, excuse, excuse."

Sit down, shut the hell up, and give proper recognition to Blatt and staff. NOBODY predicted this type of ass-kicking. Nobody.

Beat Golden State and that whole narrative evaporates. Then they'll admit the obvious and be back to focusing on Kevin Love's future.

Yeah, there are blemishes. Getting to the point where Blatt can say "scoreboard"; he's done nothing but win.

Just imagine how good this team would be if they had a good coach!

I'll caveat this by saying that Blatt has done a great job in the postseason. I haven't checked the stats, but it seems like most of the time when the Cavs have gone with a Lebron-less lineup they've held their own or extended leads. It leads me to wonder why they can't get a few more minutes out of the Marions of the world, or slide JR to the 3 to get Lebron more rest so he isn't so exhausted at the end of the game. If the team is going well, get Lebron 5 mins rest instead of 3. In the second half get him a couple of minutes late 3rd or start of the 4th instead of playing him the entire 2nd half. I think fatigue is behind some of the 4th quarter lulls the team has had.

Blatt is basically playing 7 guys (8th guy getting token minutes) and often he's pretty much running 3-4 guys the last half of the 3rd and entire 4th quarters. Seems like the Cavs would be better prepped for the stretch run with Lebron, for example, playing 37 minutes instead of 42. If the team was giving up big runs w/him out of there I could see the dilemma, but that hasn't really been the case.

This is the one area of Blatt's that has seemed a little, uh, Mike Brown-ish.

A lot of this is based on match ups. LeBron isn't resting while the other team is running full strength. Yes, our subs have done an excellent job holding up against other subs, but if we left Shawn Marion out there when Teague, Korver and Milsap were running the floor, the game would have changed quickly. Good substitutions need to be a bit proactive. Mike Brown was infuriating because he didn't coach by "feel" at all, he had a strict minute game plan and stuck to it. As a result, a player may have started heating up, and he'd be benched because it was scripted for him to come off the floor. Blatt is playing by feel, he's watching his guys for fatigue and watching the substitutions made by his opposing coach. There are times this breaks down as well (like Love being benched for the 4th, or Delly playing 22 consecutive minutes) but I'd much rather deal with those mental errors than making bad tactical decisions based on a plan developed without up-to-date information.
