Had the misfortune of turning on the radio this morning to Kevin Kiley telling everyone to brace for a coaching change regardless of Finals outcome.

We just won the Eastern Conference Championship... And he's discussing a fucking coaching change?

They are wasting Ken Carman - the best personality on the FAN (IMO).

I think the world would be a better place if Kiley just put a bullet in his head. Let this city enjoy its success FOR ONCE.

And for as much shit as Rizzo takes (and he deserves it)... At least he's passionate, upbeat, and eternally optimistic. His lead in today was about how the Cavaliers can and should win the title because we have momentum and the best player in the world.

Kiley's lineup?

- Did David Blatt play a role in getting us here?
- Was it a mistake to play Irving last night?
- Do you believe in the Cleveland curse?

Oh and they are having Ric the Dick Bucher on the show this week.

Fuck the negativity that guy spews. I'm sorry, Carman, I'm tuning out until that hack Kiley is gone.

Go Cavs.

I haven't changed my stance on D.Blatt since the start.
I don't know about all this firing him rumors because this would be stupid beyond stupid.

There are people-including media and fans , who never liked the guy because of whatever preference or agenda they have..

LET the guy grow into this..

I saw someone yammering about the play they didn't call for LeBron.
As I stated in my story yesterday, I think we got a look at it the other night in Gm 3. it keyed a big run that got the Cavs back in the game and the play with .9 left and LeBron triggering from the corner was very successful. Of course not one person noticed or commented. it's the most painful part of the media.... follow a stupid narrative then when the truth comes out the train has left and the correction's buried on pg 56

David Blatt should receive a lot of love and credit from us fans, what he did should not come for granted, as we know Cleveland started off really badly in the beginning of the season, guys didn't connect to each other and you could witness it on the court.
Blatt took a team filled with ego and got them to work like a well-oiled machine, to really connect and trust each other, he received two frustrated players from the New York Knicks and made them very crucial players for the success of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he brought the best out of the both of those players.
He took under his wings a little Australian point guard who looked like he has nothing to do with basketball and made him one of Cleveland's biggest factors in the players under the absence of Kyrie Irving.
And finally he was able to still have professional relations with LeBron James on the court even if behind the scenes they had some disagreements and disputes.

Yes Cleveland is a very talented basketball team but that doesn't decrease or belittle any achievement Blatt has earned this season, Blatt is a rookie coach who made it all the way to the NBA finals, it's pretty rare thing to do in the NBA, and yet he was able to make it happen.
So give this guy some respect.

Blatt's situation reminds me a little bit of Bill Belichick in his Cleveland days.

Bill was born to coach. But in his first real stint, media and ownership, alike, had it out for him. Media members had claimed he alienated veteran players and lost the trust of the locker room over the course of a rocky season.

His demeanor did not endear itself to the media.

The similarities are striking in that both:

  • Faced preseason championship expectations
  • Were given their first, real opportunity to coach at the highest level
  • Had rifts with the media
  • Faced difficult stretches of their respective seasons
The obvious differences are that Blatt's team enjoyed a midseason turnaround to ultimately make a Finals run and I also don't see any evidence of a rift between Blatt and Gilbert.

That said, Belichick ultimately won and won a lot. He now commands respect from everybody and the media (typically) kisses the ground he walks on.

It's now Blatt's turn to show up the media with the ultimate rebuttal: win a title in Cleveland, Ohio.

I'd love to watch his mic drop after that with guys like Bucher, Windhorst, etc. running with their tails between their legs.

And we've still yet to see a special on Blatt or even an in depth convo from TNT or ABC on what he's done for this team.

But every GS game we have to hear about how great Kerr is even tho he inherited that team from jackson

There is such an interesting story in how this team came into the playoffs with huge, HUGE questions about their defense and Blatt and his coaching staff has them absolutely humiliating a gifted offensive team like Atlanta. How did they go from iffy to suffocating in so short an amount of time?
The "coach of the year" couldn't find one thing to get his team's offense on track. The one game where they broke 90 points was an OT game where they shot 17-17 on free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime.
I can't find the stats, but I'm pretty sure the Cavs were even able to win the +/- battle when LeBron sat in this series.

But we'll never read those kinds of stories because Blatt was sometimes smug and cheeky in press conferences. Good job, media. Really top notch stuff. Why not ask him another question like, "Can you tell us about how great LeBron is?"

Just spitballin' here, so don't bust my balls....

Blatt said last night in his presser that while LBJ came back home to win his title, Blatt himself left home to come here, to try to accomplish something he'd never done.

Suppose the Cavs win the whole thing.

What if Coach Blatt then does the "drops mic" routine, by saying he's accomplished what he set out to do, and is going to go home to his wife and daughters, and leave the team in the very capable hands of Tyronne Lue?

What a damn story that would be....

That would be so amazing. Id have to respect it.

I wonder if the Cavs win, if he thinks he could win enough to join Pop and. Jackson. How fast does Messina get promoted to hear coach? Who else come from Europe?

Everyone that has been disparaging him would pile on and call him a quitter and state how he cant handle the NBA grind.

I don't think that would happen, after being in this level, for a coach, at 56, what would he be doing? fishing?

No, fuck that, back to back rings, that's what we should aim at , family is important, but a man needs to be professional and being at this level, nothing can compete with that, he can retire at 60 when the rings are on the pinky as well

its hard for me to see blatt continue coaching lebron next year.... this is not to say we will not see him head coaching another NBA team in need of a fresh start. hell, if anything at least he has proven he can do just that.
