If I'm Blatt, I just quit this shit-show, and go back to Europe. This is not what he signed up for. He was brought on to develop a young team, not babysit a bunch of malcontent-turds, who are too lazy and full of themselves to play any defense or move the ball on offense. It can't be fun to coach a bunch of uncoachable players.

While I would love to have Mark Jackson or George Karl, I think the best we do midseason is promoting Tyronn Lue. There is not a lot of time to prepare during an NBA season, so add a new coach in with all the new players, the safe bet is promote from the current staff. Gilbert and Griffin (and everyone on this board) have to ask themselves if they think Lue will be an improvement. We should not call for Blatt's firing under the fantasy that we will get Jackson/Karl. I think this team has quit on Blatt, so I am comfortable with attempting to salvage the season with Lue.

saw most of the game.

looked really bad.

but then I gave it some more thought -

10 players available.

3 can't play in the nba any longer and are only there for their trade value (haywood) and their relationship with lebron (miller, jones).

they're just done - especially on the defensive end.

1 guy isn't an nba player either yet at this stage - harris.
again - especially defensively.

1 guy is a borderline backup in the league, giving full effort but is still very limited physically - delly.

that's 5 guy that simply can't compete physically against nba athletes. period.

what's left for blatt to work with tonight ?

2 guys who joined the team 3 days ago or so -
mozgov, who you can see will be a big help, but also clearly see the lack of familiarity and chemistry with the other players.
and smith - who when he's on can be helpfull, but when he's off - he's hurting the team - not to mention when the chemistry and familiarity issues are clearly and understandebly present.

who's left ?

love who can't defend and missed a LOT of great looks.

thompson who tries but just isn't good enough.

and irving - who understandably reverted back to his ball hog self with almost no one to play with.

I just don't see where the defense can come from on a night like this, or even any effort that's going to be visible in a league full of athletic wings.
is the blame here that j.r. smith didn't turn into a full effort-sacrafice your body type of defensive player tonight ?

and even offensively - love got great looks.
missed too many.
irving tried but was not his night and didn't really have anyone to work with - which will change once mozgov and smith get more acclimated.

and who else ?

this team as constructed and at the present moment (trying to incorportate mozgov and smith), can not compete with all of lebron, shumpert, and marion out.

a team of cousins, gay, and a full roster of legit athletic nba role players with continuity SHOULD blow this team of irving, love, and patchwork of bodies half of whom can't play and 2 of the others just arived - out of the gym every time.

replace the dead corpses on the bench with young athletes eager to earn their place in the league like philly has - and thing would look much MUCH different (for that reporter that compared this team's "effort" to philly's).

Nailed it...

I saw Blatt say the quote and I don't think he meant it in the context of "he doesn't deserve to be a max player." This is just silly controversy-mongering. He was saying that Kevin isn't technically being paid as a max player yet. Basically the question caught him off guard and he wasn't ready to answer it, so he resorted to a technicality instead of answering a very valid question of why two players considered max-level can't lead their team to any victories.

All of this. Other than Irving and Love combing for 65 efficient points and the rest of the guys making a plethora of open threes AND the opposition missing a bunch of open shots and FTs, there's no path to victory with all the scrubs and deadwood out there. I think we can look better but I think the group knows it csnt win so gives up.

I was happy when we brought him here.

But we are not getting what we were advertised from him. I remember Mike Miller saying the offense was "borderline genius". I must be borderline blind then, because I am not seeing anything close that resembles even a GOOD offense, nevermind a top-tier one.

There is absolutely ZERO reason for us to be a 1-8 team without Lebron. Yes, we are missing Lebron, Marion, and Shumpert right now and have had guys missing all throughout the year. But being THIS bad is inexcusable.

I think it might be time to move on from Blatt. And after seeing what he just said about Love in the post-game (whether true or not, you don't say that to the media, especially when his seat was already warm), I have a feeling there might be people in the front office feeling the same way.

I saw it too and agree, he was just trying to deflect the question.

Remember when everyone thought this stretch without LeBron was a good chance to see what the team was made of?

Yep. Ah, the folly of youth.

A seed of doubt is planted in my noggin about Blatt.

Kevin Love strikes me as the type of guy to take it the wrong way. Mr. GQ.

Blatt needs to nip his comment in the bud immediately before the media spins it out of control.

I agree with those who say it doesn't matter what he meant. It was a weird thing to say either way.
