Bingo, I was gonna say college but same. Look at the Mavs vs SAC game in OT right now. Mavs starters have been there since mid 4th, playing from behind.

Also in the playoffs, it's the role players that are interchangeable, because you always want to have your best players out there. Howard and Shaq were/are always in despite their FTs.

It's simple. You put them out there and they figure it out (you know since, they're your BEST players). If they don't, they've got nowhere else to look but the mirror.

If it wasn't for Love being in the game at the end, we probably would have lost to Charlotte as well. Your post is golden my friend.

Can't blame Blatt for benching Love. He was getting embarrassed. The lineup sucked, but it was the only one so night with any momentum. These players are embarrassing.

I have plenty to blame Blatt for don't get me wrong. I just knew one we got Love we could only win or underachieve. I really wish we had gone for win now next year when we knew what we had. Just a mess

He was getting embarrassed by Morris. You know who else was getting embarrassed by Morris? Ever other guy on this squad. This game proves we need another mobile 7 footer, because with Mozgov in foul trouble, we have no one to play defense on guys like Len (Len for fucks sake).

So then how can you also say Blatt shouldn't be blamed tonight? He's the guy who decided to leave Kyrie in the game the entire fourth quarter.

i have never said blatt was blameless, what i have said is that arguing to get rid of blatt and blaming this loss on him is dumb. when he has 2 guys that are "all stars" that have no concept of team basketball he is pretty much between a rock and a hard place

If you put Love in the game and he hits a huge shot or grabs a big rebound: You win. He's now more confident, the chemistry grows.

If you put Love in the game and he misses a huge shot and PJ Tucker still gets the dagger rebound: You lose. He is now accountable and will be motivated to be better

If you bench Love for the entire Fourth: You still lose. Love is disrespected. Relationship with coach suffers.

and look, this would be completely different if the guy we were replacing him with wasn't James Jones.

When you see James Jones get knocked around and scored on multiple times, you should take him out. The Suns recognized the mismatch. Blatt didn't. It just seems like he doesn't know his personnel.

We have about 6 years of evidence that suggests otherwise...

Benching Love for the entire 4th quarter makes no sense -- at all. Nor would it make sense to bench Irving for an entire quarter; or James.

Those guys need to be in the game, as others have said, this isn't high school.

I wonder how much of Love awful play tonight was because of Blatt's comments? Guy didn't want to be there. Reminded me of a Waiters bs effort.

i think blatt could be a great coach if he got a young team and matured with them.

blatt isnt ready for this shit...at all

he cant handle these egos, he doesnt know how to manage the roster

Here's a conspiracy theory because I don't want to go to bed this pissed off at our team: What if Blatt is trying to get fired? He's like Tarzan. He's been in the jungle too long, he can't be part of civilization anymore.

Uh oh, Slammin Sammy dropping some criticism of Blatt and sticking up for Love...Must've gotten the green light from Griffin.

I agree with you. That stuff on Blatt is not the kind of Aw-shucks-they-let-me-have-this-job writing The Bullshit Whisperer usually delivers. One of these days, The Bullshit Whisperer is going to forget to remove the "Griff" or "David" from the original email when he prints the actual column...

The Cavs are not in an enviable position. They really only have three options, judging by the comments, and they all kind of suck right now. Which one would hurt least?

1. Keep Blatt, hope things correct themselves and we all laugh about this come May. Or it doesn't and they fire him after the season. Cue the fourth coach in three years and everything that entails.

2. Fire Blatt after the weekend and replace him with Lue. Now the season is in the hands of another rookie coach who is, by most accounts, not a great Xs and Os guy. It's his billet to run the defense. Which he has. Into the ground. If it works out, ok, if not, another coaching search. Maybe the Cavs need a personality guy like Lue rather than a another Popovich.

3. Fire Blatt, hire (preferably) George Karl or someone like Jackson. The Cavs now have the dislocation of a change in culture and trying to integrate a new system with new players in the middle of a season. Upside is they would then have all summer to prepare for the next season in a single system and with a unity of command with a coach whose previous work demands respect.

I don't really mean to demean Blatt by saying things aren't working out. Blatt was hired to coach a very different team. As a rookie coach who never even served as an assistant in the NBA. It is a lot to ask.

i think lue would be a disaster too, you would need someone super established

mark jackson would solve some issues, i think he would get the effort out of the team..his offense sucks though... i dunno...not like blatt's offense is so great
