I can't get mad about the rotations because the players on our bench aren't good. We should have added players that would have an impact on the team rather than LeBron's old+un-athletic 3pt buddies.

But, those side out in-bounds plays are absolutely terrible. They only set one screen and then that guy is the only one that goes to the ball while everyone else stands around and watches until we're forced to call a timeout. Horrible playcalling.

You guys keep saying Lue would suck and that's prob true. But part of me believes he would be more inclined (than Blatt) to let Boylan and (gasp) Larry Drew do most of the coaching.

Honestly, out of that group, Boylan then Drew is who I would want. That should tell you all you need to know about the value of our super expensive staff.

Windhorst took some more shots at Blatt in his latest ESPN column. I just posted the link and some highlights in the Windhorst thread.

I like David Blatt. I feel like he is a good coach, or at least he has been everywhere he has went besides this recent stint with the Cavs.

That said I don't see how Blatt survives for much longer. Yes, I get it, our bench isn't the greatest, but we still have Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, and Kevin Love all on the same team. Even Mike Brown was able to "coach" a LeBron James + role player team to a shitton of wins. Yes, we've had injuries, but our best three players have still been around for a good portion of the season. Even if we lose to good teams we should still be able to out talent a good portion of them and get some wins, and not get blown out by every single team we come across.

If we don't improve quickly Blatt has to go. We're not trading LeBron. No one is going to offer anything of value for a half year rental of Kevin Love, and I don't think trading Kyrie will net us good enough players to fix our problems.

Yes our defense is terrible, and Lue is the defensive coordinator, but Blatt is the head coach, and responsibility rests on his shoulders. Unfortunately from what I have read it seems like the players like Lue more than Blatt, so I don't know how we would be able to get rid of Lue.

Everything seems to point to Blatt being let go very soon, unless something finally clicks and our team starts kicking ass.

Bingo. JR/Shump I'm cool with. But the "Friends of LeBron".... no, no, no.

As The Bullshit Whisperer said in his piece tonight, it seems like Blatt is having trouble just managing an NBA game let alone trying to use his talent properly.

I was 100% in on Blatt at the beginning. All in. Stayed in once LeBron's gang started to make it clear they weren't thrilled with Blatt.

Tonight was just too much. You can't play James Jones in the 4th quarter over Love. No one could stop Morris tonight, but you could have at least gotten some boards and maybe some points if you had Love in the game.

And WHY IN THE WORLD did Blatt take JR Smith out of the game for Jones? If you want to stay with the hot hand guys, why would you bench Smith?

Kyrie looks lost. Love is ticked off. LeBron can't be happy.

Blatt is a good guy and a great coach. But he does not seem ready for the NBA game. At least not at the head coach level. He probably would have been much better off being Kerr's assistant for a few seasons before being named a head coach.

As The Bullshit Whisperer pointed out, this isn't the team Blatt was hired to coach. It's not all his fault. But this season is circling the drain now and I don't feel good that Blatt knows how to turn things around.

LeShaq I am starting to feel the same way. Not only that, but I am disgusted that nothing ever works out for us. WHAT IT IS about this city? This guy is a great basketball mind, intelligent, knows his stuff. WTF? Game after game after game the same crap...and it's not getting better, either. Just not good.

Blaming it on the city is a crap out and the bitch way of going about this.

Blaming it on his lack of NBA basketball awareness and lack of imagination is merely accurate and shouldn't rub anyone wrong.

The guy sucks and all of his players know it.

Dude, chill. I'm just saying - the guy is successful, not in the NBA, but successul. Maybe it doesn't translate, I don't know. I'm just saying that shit never goes right here, that's my point.

I think it's a "right guy, wrong time" issue here. Blatt can coach, that's clear. But he's trying to adjust to the NBA game and he also needs to be a disciplinarian with guys like Irving and Love who are used to losing and playing no defense.

He doesn't have the standing to do that though. And LeBron isn't buying in, so why would Irving or Love buy in?

This is the wrong situation for Blatt. If this team were the team Blatt thought he was getting, it probably would have worked great. But this is a high stakes, win it now team. I think Blatt is just too green for this role. That Euro Weave Offense he seems to want to run probably isn't going to work in the NBA.

Of the available coaches I can think of, I would take George Karl. He's better than Van Gundy or Mark Jackson. Is he a long term answer? Maybe not. But someone has to come in that the players will respect and who really knows NBA X's and O's.

We are moving in the right direction, like with the roster moves. But there are still more roster moves to make and I think we are going to need a new coach for this team to maximize what we have quickly.

Blatt is going to have a lot of regrets once he loses this job. Mostly, he never stood up to Lebron or challenged him, he just rolled over. And thus no respect from Lebron and hence he breaks plays, does what he wants because there is no one on the roster or in mgt to stand up to him.

Same old shit, just 5 years later. Never thought it was going to be like this.

But isnt this the reason the Cavs brought in Assistants w/ NBA experience to help Blatt with all this? At some point do we hold Lue, Drew, etc just as accountable as Blatt? Now, I'm not giving Blatt a pass at all, a ot of what he does is head scratching. Is he stubborn and not utilizing the experience he has on the bench with him or are these assistants in over their heads as well?

Anyone pick up on this tidbit from Lloyd? o_O

15. Regardless of the shove, there are troubling signs for Blatt. Like when Tyronn Lue called a timeout tonight from the bench – which is hardly the first time that has happened this season. Teams around the league have watched it happen before and are incredulous. It’s unheard of in the NBA for an assistant coach to call timeouts from the bench -- except here.
