You know, last year deep in December of 2013 Blatt was one game before to be fired , since Maccabi started bad that season. And one of the Maccabi owners didn't love him (exactly like you and maybe even more). Finally you know what happened - they won it all! Even then after winning the Euro-League and all the rest titles in the season that Maccabi owner didn't want to give Blatt a good word because he didn't like him nevertheless what he won. I guess it's going to happen the same with you. Even in case of Cavs have great success this season we'll never hear a good word from you about Blatt.

Why are you accusing him of blind hatred?

Where is this coming from??

Again, can we stop with the ad hominem bullshit and just focus on the topic???

Thanks!

Its clear blatt has a lot to learn about managing the NBA game. 'luckily' he has larry drew to help him with his game management.

I think he has a long way to go but there have been moments when the team has looked as good as expected on offense and solid defensively. They just dont do it enough. Personally i think blatt needs to get in lebrons face, mike brown spent too long trying to be his friend and giving him too much respect. the team will follow lebron. If he is saying pass the ball to the press but pounding the crap out of it (with suprisingly poor handles) then they will follow. I have nothing bad to say about the scheme offensively, defensively i think he lets guys switch way too much but that might be a product of the personnel. Any yes his rotations are those of a man with an agenda that is more than winning or an idiot. I'm not sure yet

He's been amongst the best coaches in Europe the last decade but he's far from being considered the greatest coach overseas and you know that. Obradovic is far and away the most succesfull coach of the last 15 years leading the Greeks to many Euroleague titles, Ivkovic following him close enough as another legendary coach. Messina had also more success in Euroleauge than Blatt. But no doubt he is one hell of a coach, tactically the Euro ball is regarded higly by NBA coaches and Blatt is considered one of the best. I suggest everyone to be patient and things will get better, the guy is no joke.
Please don't forget that Obradovic, Ivkovic and Messina coached very rich clubs, therefore they all had super-star players, while Maccabi had so-so budget and medium level players

I played organized basketball my whole life, obviously I wouldn't be as upset if I didnt play ball myself.

I played ball for Wilbur Wright Middle School, John Marshall High and for St Ignatius Church League on Lorain Ave And West Blvd. I'm no dummy, but I know a garbage coach when I see one.

Blowing all of his timeouts before the clock hit 2 minutes in the 4th quarter sealed it for me. I knew at that very moment, tha would cost us the game and probably cost him a long tenure here.
Quoted for posterity. Just gonna file this one away for future use.

Interesting fact: Shortest tenure ever for a non-interim head coach who had started the season in that role was Jerry Tarkanian, who only lasted 20 games with the Spurs in 1992.

Don't worry. This "bum" will set the new record. He'll be gone by Saturday. Clearly he isn't the answer. :chuckle:

He has clearly made some errors up to this point, and I don't think he has been able to get the team to play his way yet (at least not throughout the course of a game).

As with any new boss, he is still working to get his top guys (i.e. LBJ) to buy in. I don't see any issue with this - neither with him still working towards this, nor with LeBron not blindly accepting authority. It's natural in any work environment for a new boss to require some time to implement systems and processes.

The key going forward is for Blatt to learn from his mistakes (e.g. the timeout situation against SA) and continue to work to build trust with the team. Hopefully he will.

Well, he is the best coach we have had in recent memory. You can tell when the team is looking good that they have a lot of potential. You can see from that basketball offense video that they are not even running the plays very well yet.

The hard show which a lot of posters have complained about showed up in the video with AV not getting back to his man fast enough, leaving Love to help, which is a real weakness for him.

I think Blatt has definitely made some mistakes managing minutes. He is definitely playing by feel, and that is not going to look great out of the gate. I do think the defense has been good enough when executed, and there are still many rough edges to it. Fitting Love and Dion into the offense, and getting them to play correctly are most important IMO.

I'm officially concerned. His genius is wasted on this team, as presently constituted. He's the right coach for a team of smart and unselfish players. I'm not sure you can WIN in the NBA, with smart unselfish players. Talent tends to win out. LeBron and Tim Duncan happen to be smart and unselfish and TALENTED. Tim Duncan is surrounded by smart and unselfish players, many of whom are talented, also. LeBron? I'm not sure yet. Blatt seems to be picking the unselfish, less-talented players or the more-talented, more selfish players. That could be a road to ruin. That could basically make him an NBA version of Eric Mangini, who got the most out of the guys who bought into his system, but never won anything. Whether Blatt is the right coach for a team of ball-hogs (around LeBron) remains to be seen.

And I sure hope we don't see a full-blown power struggle between Blatt and LBJ.

They need to right the ship.

The Spurs are completely different...almost all veterans...Cavs have kids who have never won in the NBA yet

James was asked specifically about how satisfied he is with how his relationship with first-year head coach David Blatt is going.

"It takes a long time," James said. "I don't know the exact time, but it takes awhile. You have to go through things on the floor and be with him and you got to go through a lot of tough times and see how guys react from it and see how you come back from it. But, it doesn't happen overnight."

Earlier in the week, James endorsed Blatt, saying: "He's an intense guy, a very intense guy who wants to win, who wants to do it the right way. He doesn't want to mess around too much with the process and you can respect that. He gets on us when we do something wrong and he gives us a pat on the back when we do something right. And it's been more getting on us than pats on the back so far, but it's a good thing. It's good for our team."

The Spurs were sold to a new owner in 1992,

It was the same year they fired Larry Brown, Popovich, Buford and the rest of the staff before Tark. Needless to say they re-hired most of those guys (Pop, Buford, who every Pop wanted to bring back ect) in 94

Hey, just a reminder that David Blatt has coached a team (maccabi) that has about 10 million dollars as player budget, while obradovic, messina and ivkovic usually coach way richer teams. meanwhile Blatt won almost at any place with no seasons that you can say that were failures. obradovic may won the euroleague more times but did it in one team and in a comfortable environment (rich club, god like status), and failed completely in a few seasons there too, and failed again last year with a very big budget. messina also failed completly last year with the richest club in european basketball, and ivkovic still remembers his cska failing to show up in moscow for their home final four where a maccabi team (that blatt had a very strong role in) took the back 2 back. and the the accomplishment that I regard as one of the greatest of coach in any sport : taking russia (yes russia!!) to the european championship in spain, beating spain in the finals. and taking the bronze in the olympics. you know where were the russians in the last mundobasket? - They haven't even qualified!!! I want to see any coach repeat that... and I mean any coach... The guy is a wizard when you let him work!
