So long, David Griffin

When the Cleveland Cavaliers take the court next season, there will be a new logo on their jerseys -- the Goodyear wingfoot.

The tire company, founded and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, where the Cavaliers star LeBron James was born and currently lives, signed a multi-year deal to be on the team's jerseys, sources told ESPN.

Terms of Goodyear's deal with the Cavs was not disclosed. The deal will be announced later Monday.

We have also known about the remodel and possibility of the All-Star game.
The possibility, yes. Not a certainty.

Today's announcement seems totally pointless unless we get to actually see a jersey with the patch.

I’d imagine they have one to show off. Usually for these jersey logo announcements they have a generic mock-up jersey handy to show people.

Someone insert a Yes gif while I'm on the rd lol.

Looks like ATL and Orlando jobs are taken. I imagine we get something done with Griff now. Promotion to Team President+ 5-7 million maybe only 2-3 years though.

Can somebody edify me on the difference between GM and Team President?

Sometimes only a title.

Depends on how a team is set up.

President is the boss, makes final decisions. GM runs the day to day operations, controls the various groups, scouting, coaching, training, etc.

Sometimes there is a seperate President, sometimes the owner is President, and sometimes the gm and president are the same person.

Examples. Mavericks have Don Nelson as President and GM.

Clippers have Whol as Gm but Gillian Zucker as president. Her role as president is more business related while the gm makes more of the personnel decisions.

Like i said, sometimes separate, sometimes same person, but President is more business, but the boss of the GM.

(Did I help or further confuse)

Sidenote: I thought Stein was laid off? He's still got ESPN all over his twitter and his stuff is still being posted on their website.
