DeAndre Liggins Waived

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does feel like we have this obsession with trying to turn any half servicable guard into a facilitator

We seem to badly want all our guards to have the drive and kick skillset. Why I get the impression we try to play like Lebron is on the floor even when he's not.

I cannot believe Liggins was ever pulled from the rotation. He should have continued starting until JR came back, and even then, he needs to be in the rotation. Even if it's only ~10 mpg. His defense is too good. His energy is too contagious. He may not shoot quite as well as Shumpert but he's better at every other aspect of the game. Shump needs to be dealt for a big in the offseason.

I like Liggins, and the effort he puts into defending all over the court, but good teams will make him take shots he can't make in the postseason. I would be surprised if he gets minutes unless JR really falters or Korver is injured.

I do think Liggins should have gotten more time in the regular season when other teams don't gameplan as carefully.

Oh please cool it on Liggins guys. Act like he's a D-Leaguer that got few opportunities, meaning he is what he is.

Played decent vs Philly, cool. Cavs can get away with it, like wuck said, good/great teams will exploit our offense being defended 5v4.

He's good enough for a quick jab or 2.

I agree, but he could still get situational minutes. Even with everyone healthy. He's that good on defense.

We all saw what he did for weeks when he was in the rotation, including in the closest thing we've ever seen to a playoff game in the regular season in years (Christmas vs Warriors).

There are minutes for him. Even if spare.

Liggins is definitely playable. He prevents dribble penetration better than anyone besides a locked in LeBron.

May not be a big minutes guy in the Finals, much like Delly(though he can guard 2's better so theres more room for him next to Kyrie).

But against the three point guards that can give us trouble in the East....we would be making a mistake not using him for stretches.

And Shumpert is providing literally nothing. Since his great start, post all-star break, he's shooting 38% and shooting 27% from three, and his defense hasn't been that good.

So, really, tell me again how much Shumpert is providing, and how this "d-league" player, can't provide much worse, given Shumpert is playing like a disabled player.

The alternative is our defense is worse [MUCH worse..] and our offensive players [like Kyrie] have to expend more energy on defense to make up for it.

I'll take my chances that Kyrie can shred his defender over expecting him to play the defense a designated player like Liggins would.

Apparently you forgot the impact Dahntay Jones had last year in the Finals. Liggins is the type of guy who could make contributing plays in situational matchups, i.e., ones where we aren't on offense.

Liggins is the ideal "quick guard" stopper, and sometimes that's more important than an aptitude for hitting shots. Look at Roberson in OKC, he seems to do alright and he's arguably an even worse shooter than Liggins.

I guarantee you we would have won the Boston game or last night in Chicago with Liggins.

Don't worry, he's just doing his usual schtick. Dude has no memory at all, he probably doesn't remember we won the Championship last year.

Liggins should be shooting thousands of 3pt's a day. He would be so damn good If he can steal a piece of Bruce Bowen's game and turn it into consistency.

Think about, if he can be money from the corners then he's more than playable. He's more than situational. I love his hustle, he always has heart because he has to bring it in this league to keep his spot.

I just can't see him creating moments in the playoffs, but I wish he would.
