DeAndre Liggins Waived

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There was also a game recently - I think it was the Clippers - where Liggins got trapped in the corner and had to call a time out. That can't happen in half court sets, ball needs to move around in this offense, especially since his job is just moving the ball unless he is wide open.

I love the defense, and yes it is very similar to Tony Allen with his size and physicality. He can get the ball up the floor in transition. But, he really struggles with decision making on offense. I see him as a minutes eater until the team can address the depth issue. He is much better than Felder and McCrae at this point, but hopefully Dunleavy gets right before the playoffs.

If he was 21 I would agree but he's past the age where most develop considerably

Agree with this, I really wish he was a couple of years younger. Even 24 or 25. His athleticism will start to fall off within a few years.

But with that said, our bench is so weak that it really helps us to have any player who can perform at a good NBA level in *any* important dimension of the game. And we are particularly weak on defense. So he can be a big help this year.

My thought was that his ball handling was pretty good for a defensive oriented wing, but I just read some of his draftexpress profile and was surprised that he was originally a PG prospect.

I guess that explains why we keep trying to use him sort of like one. lol

He looks like the player we wanted Shump to be.

Lets revisit the Shump for Gay discussion...

Put JR on the bench when he comes back, and keep starting Liggs.

NY punted on the game and benched Rose for back spasms, his first old age day off of the season. That said, Liggs played like early Delly again tonight: playoff intensity on defense, nervous to shoot the three when wide open on half court offense. He preferred the drive and kick... but eventually he needs that encouragement that a missed three or two won't get him back on the bench.

His length makes him potentially even more disruptive than Delly... and that gives me a half chub.

Inquiring minds want to know...what aside from this young athletic black man's disruptive length would get you full?

I know Shump drives us crazy, me too, but I wouldn't say it makes him expendable all of a sudden.

Shump is shooting 48% from the field, and 41 percent from three!! I am hardly this huge Shump fan, and been one of his biggest critics. But I couldn't ask more from him.

I love him coming off the second unit and guarding point guards (ball penetration), and the off guard.

We just need that extra big body that can defend the bigger/more athletic guys that neither Jefferson/Dunleavy can do.

So if Liggins works out, it's a win-win. We have the right pieces in place.

I don't think we're making any trades worth much. We are stuck with this team. So if Liggins can pan out, we have the last missing piece IMO.

Sure, I'd like a rim protecting center, and a backup point guard, but I don't think those are keeping us from winning it all either.

Very pleasant couple of games. Reminds me of what we did when we started Marion for a bit. Hopefully Liggs can end up eating up minutes and keep this up

The delicate features of a woman and the ability to quickly feed the post off the dribble like Delly.

Obviously.
