DeAndre Liggins Waived

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ty, LeBron and Shump etc are all biging up Liggins. Nice to see.

If JR is out for some time, I would like us to have Liggins start as the SG. Thats the best way to see how good he can be.
Agreed. On top of that, it lets us keep the rotation more-or-less the same, something very important when it comes to growing throughout the regular season.

Liggins stepping up as somebody who can materially contribute on at least one end of the court and stay on the court is really important. We badly need to get a hit on at least one bench player, even at that basic level.

This guy shows potential to be able to fill some of the Delly void.

The more I watched of the Summer League and exhibition season, the more I liked this guy's potential to suck up minutes. Nobody is going to mistake him for a rotation player on a championship team, but he can have a role at the end of a bench if there's scoring around him.

Here's a nice article after his contribution last night with some Liggins praise:

Whilst I think that he is not really an nba players do like his energy and defense. I also really liked that when he caught the ball and the defense were slow to react he wasn't afraid to drive and force a rotation before dishing. more than 2 or 3 shots from three from him a game would be a disaster
Why would you not think he's an NBA player?

If Alonzo Gee can still make an NBA roster then Liggins is a candidate for 6th man of the year :chuckle:

In all seriousness, there will be games where Liggins will be awful. He'll be a liability on offense and might struggle defensively against certain teams. But then there'll be games like yesterday's where Liggins knows his role and excels in it; delivers defensive intensity and provides the kind of help defense that starts to build momentum in your favor for your offensive weapons to thrive on.

Every team needs that guy. After all, how do you think Delly made a living?

At this point there's no argument to be made for playing Dunleavy over him. Neither one can create or hit an open shot, but at least Liggins can guard his man.

Because he does only 1 thing well and that is defend. He is a poor passer, cant really break down a defense, can't shoot. 1 of those other things needs to change for him to be useful long term.

The nearest successful player to his skillset is tony allen but tony is many time better at scoring around the rim for example.

Hopefully he proves me wrong as we seem to have a paper thin bench but im not going to count on it

He's our version of okc's roberson.. No offensive skill but with defensive desire and intensity.. If he can make an open shot he would be valuable..

I agree with this and he can develop based on what I seen but will it be fine when we need him in crunch games. He reminds me of Alonzo Gee as he can D you up but you hope he at least can hit a three now and then.

I know we haven't seen much of Liggins but from what I'v seen so far I think he moves the ball, has a nice handle & has shown he can play very good defense, his length & quick feet can cause problems to opposing players.

We need him to play great defense, be disruptive, help with rebounding and bring that energy.
If he can hit the occasional open 3 great, either way I think we might have found a legit rotation player for the rest of the season, hyped to see him get more minutes.

If he was 21 I would agree but he's past the age where most develop considerably

Hoping Liggins starts tonight against the Knicks
