DeAndre Liggins Waived

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I knew playing Liggins would be beneficial. His defense will be there, but he needs minutes to boost his confidence on offense and give him real game experience. I could definitely see him coming in an important game when we need some stops...

NY punted on the game and benched Rose for back spasms, his first old age day off of the season. That said, Liggs played like early Delly again tonight: playoff intensity on defense, nervous to shoot the three when wide open on half court offense. He preferred the drive and kick... but eventually he needs that encouragement that a missed three or two won't get him back on the bench.

His length makes him potentially even more disruptive than Delly... and that gives me a half chub.

So you just literally said Liggins length gives you a half chub.

Just thought this has to be pointed out.

I swear I was watching taller black Delly out there with some of the borderline over passing extra passes he made tonight, especially in the 3rd quarter. Set up Kyrie and Kev for 4 or 5 wide open looks in a rather short time.

I think that's what I like about him the most. He has great basketball instincts. Things you can't really teach, and you either have, or don't have. It just seems in his DNA to always make that extra pass that leads to a good possession for someone else.

That stuff is very important. I am seriously impressed with him. I am beyond excited after tonight not of the win, but that we might have found a legit wing player that can provide what we're missing.

I got a little heat for saying he had better defensive instincts than Shump at the start of the season, he just gives great effort and really sticks to his man.

I like him. He has a better stroke than I thought, plays with good poise and love his D. He adds some much need athleticism also.

Too bad he's not a little bit better on offense. The fact he can shoot the 3 though is big in terms of not allowing teams to camp off him.

He's still super excited in the post game interview. He tried to hold back a smile and his eyes lit up when he was asked how he likes being out there with the starters. Very humble too and knows his role. Play great D, take open shots, and make or miss play hard and keep shooting. Great attitude.

Dare I say keep starting him?

We could really use JR off the bench. His defense has been slipping this year. With liggins starting JR could be the spark plug off the bench that we need.

Agree 100%

As long as he keeps shooting well enough that teams have to respect him. We can't have two non-threats out there on offense (TT).

TT an off-reb threat.. teams must always put a body on him if they want to get a rebound.. he's also a good receiver off the oop..

cautiously optimistic with liggins.. would love to see him against premiere guards (harden/westbrook/curry) to see what he's got defensively.. he did make derozan work for his shots last time..

but so far so good.. putting him with the starters and having jr and shump come off the bench would strengthen cav's bench production and would limit having jr and dunleavy playing..
