1. Demons are trying to destroy the world by unleashing Hell on it. Travel through the land to Hell/other realms and defeat demons while collecting badass loot, save the world. Demons are temporarily stopped.

2. Sequel: Old demons return/different related demons show up. Return to Step 1.

I actually enjoyed D3 a lot from what I’ve been able to play (the first run of the game on the difficulty setting they make you take seems like casual fun more than a huge challenge which works OK for me) but man, did Blizzard screw the pooch on this launch. I couldn’t install from my CD because of an error and tried for an hour to figure out what was wrong. No forums had an answer (but tons of people had the same problem) and no solutions worked… until I rebooted my PC. Somehow that fixed it. Seriously. I played for a couple hours then the servers exploded and I quit for the night.

If you liked D2, this plays a lot like an improved version so I think I’ll really enjoy it when I play it more, I just wish Blizz would’ve prepped better. Supposedly all this was a concern during open beta yet they couldn’t fix it. Argh.

aside from the times the servers were down and when I had to shit, eat, shower, sleep, etc., I have put in good work....level 21 Wizard in act 2

Repped for lol, not because it's accurate. It sort of is, but there's some cooler stuff going on in the story but to be honest I wouldn't play it if you want an engaging plot.

So what classes are people enjoying? I played the Barbarian in open beta and it was fun, albeit a bit mindless.

My Barb is up to level 25 i love it. I am also working on a demon hunter as well he was 12 or so when I logged last night.

The Sorc seemed rather week in beta so I thought I would give it some time before I created one. I know I only got to play to level 13 then but it still seemed weak. From what I am reading the sorc does get strong mid 20's and then stronger end game.

Diablo :

Background

The settings of Diablo include Heaven and Hell as physical places. Angels and Demons waged a war for centuries, until the ascension of man. Heaven and Hell each tried to compel man to join their cause. A treacherous mutiny forced the 3 Lords of Hell—including Diablo himself—into the world of humanity, where they sowed chaos, distrust and hatred. With the help of Archangel Tyrael a group of magi trapped the 3 Lords of Hell in soulstones. Diablo's soulstone was buried deep in the earth and a monastery was built over the site to safeguard the entrance.

Generations passed and the purpose of the monastery was forgotten. A small town named Tristram sprang up next to the monastery's ruins. A religious king named Leoric then claimed the monastery and rebuilt it as a cathedral for his seat of power. Diablo entered the nightmares of the archbishop Lazarus and lured him to the soulstone, where he destroyed the stone. Diablo possessed first the king, who sent all his knights and priests to battle against peaceful kingdoms, and then possessed the king's son, filling the caves and catacombs beneath the cathedral with creatures formed from the young boy's nightmares.

Tristram became a town of fear and horror, where people were abducted in the night. With no king, no law, and no army left to defend them, many villagers fled. Dark rumors permeated the country, and would-be heroes and demon-hunters came to Tristram and entered the cathedral, but none have been seen again.

Diablo 2

The story of Diablo II takes immediately after the end of Diablo (and also in Sanctuary), where the Warrior character of the first game tried to contain Diablo within himself by plunging the Soulstone into his own head. Unfortunately, he was instead corrupted by the Lord of Terror, and became the Dark Wanderer. Despite struggling with the demon within, he spread chaos and terror wherever he went. Diablo had in fact planned this all along, luring the Warrior to his dungeon.

The player takes on the role as one of five (seven in the expansion) heroes who group up in order to stop Diablo and the other Prime Evils. They start in the Rogue Encampment (which may be in Entsteig or Khanduras, the lore is fuzzy), chasing after this mysterious Dark Wanderer who had summoned demons to overrun their monastery, which guarded the passage to the East.

Diablo leaves hinders for the heroes, such as the Lesser Evil, Andariel, in the Monastery, and heads first to the Aranoch desert to free his brother Baal near Lut Gholein, and then further to the jungles of Kehjistan to free Mephisto under the city of Kurast. At every step of the way, the player not only chases Diablo, but also has to deal with demonic corruption and other obstacles in the way.

Finally, the heroes catch up with the Brothers, and kill Mephisto in Travincal, ending the corruption of the Zakarum Church, and goes through a portal to Hell itself, to find Diablo.

Searching hell, and finding the Chaos Sanctuary, Diablo's home, the heroes summon the demon before he has fully recovered from transforming into his real, red, self, and defeats him. The heroes are then charged with destroying the Soulstones as the Prime Evils were taught long ago how to corrupt them by the fallen angel Izual.

The story continues in the expansion to the game, where the player chases the last of the Prime Evils; Baal (Lord of Destruction) who is going after the mythical Worldstone in an attempt to corrupt it.

Diablo 3

Twenty years have passed since the destruction of the Worldstone, the ending of Diablo II:Lord of Destruction. The world of Sanctuary was prepared for an invasion from the Burning Hells. However, the invasion never happened, prompting Deckard Cain to seek information as to why.[2]

Much of the story will be based around the Archangel Tyrael.[2] Archangel Imperius is speculated to be present as well. It has been confirmed that at least one of the two remaining Lesser Evils, Azmodan and Belial, is behind the failed invasion of Sanctuary, and that Act II of the game will heavily focus on deception due to its association with Belial. That being said however, Diablo's return has been confirmed, despite his earlier death.[11]

Diablo III will end the storyline that began in the original game. However, it has been confirmed that it will not be the last game of the series and new storylines will develop. Chris Metzen, vice president of Blizzard's lore department, knows where the story will go after the game.[4]

An issue that lead designer Jay Wilson had with previous games was that apart from Tyrael and Deckard Cain, there weren't many memorable characters. It appears that Diablo III will break the trend.[12]

How are you guys enjoying it so far?

How are you guys enjoying it so far?

After being apprehensive after the Beta, I can say that I am really enjoying the game. I've been playing casually, so I haven't made it too far. (My most experienced character just beat the Skeleton King, so I've barely made a dent in the game.) I'm leveling a Monk and Demon Hunter and am enjoying both. I've alternated between the two of which I enjoy more, but the Monk is pulling ahead. On either character I feel like I'm just mashing buttons, but at least it looks cool when I do it.

Uuuh I still need to get it.
