Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Whats your height and weight? Gonna want to eat a shit ton. More protein the better.. you listed a good macro breakdown. Ill give you easy cheap meals that taste good if you want

6'2" 150 on a good day. See why I want to take them? :chuckles: Definitely looking for cheap meals.

Ok, I just booked a trip to the beach in April. So this gives me plenty of time to switch my workouts to a cut type phase. So anybody have any good workouts to toss my way?

I will probably need to cut about 10lb. Im 6'4'', 220lb. My main objection would be is I don't want to do any super light workouts that will sacrifice strength.

Dont switch your workouts up, go look up the slow carb diet, I've lost about 8 lbs in 2.5 weeks or so.

Id kill to have your metabolism. Makes things easy. Do you have abs?

Ya, more calories coming from protein the better..

you can do 6 scoops of protein powder (split between 3 glasses of milk) and come out with 210 grams of protein just from that alone.. Cost is like 4 bucks a day to do that.

Steak is a good one.. I think the breakdown was like 2 bucks for 300 calories worth, which is 60 grams of protein.. At this rate, youre at 270grams (almost all of what you need) for 6 bucks, and you have a lot of calories youre allowed to eat still.

When I get a second, Ill write out my list, but thats a good base. Eat 4000 calories. If its too much, youll get a little fat (and by little, I mean very little) and youll just naturally burn it off in a week anyways

Yeah my metabolism has its perks. I went to J Alexander's for an xmas dinner with the GF and her coworkers and split a 92 oz steak with one guy. Damn near ate the whole 46 and was hungry an hour later. I do have abs but they aren't defined as they could be. I usually skip abs from fall until April or May because it doesn't take much to get them ready for summer. Appreciate the help Dave.

Glock you ever heard of Russian Bear? It's a weight gainer you can supplement with protein and high protein meats. I'd get it offline you'll get bent over the counter at GNC.

Never heard of it. I'll have to look into it. I never shop at GNC unless I run out of my preworkout and don't feel like waiting on shipping. I hate people that are as skinny as I am or as fat as a sumo wrestler telling me what supplements "have worked wonders" for them when they clearly haven't had any success if they even workout at all.

Mark Wahlberg is roughly about 155lbs right now, and has 10 more lbs to lose. He works out 2x a day and drinks 4 shakes throughout the day. He has to do this for the next 9.5 weeks.

Meanwhile, I worked out for the first time in about a month. My go to workout is always a yoga routine. I'll do a variation of 3-4 different routines this week, and then go back to the Total Gym.

wheres the best place to buy protein? I always shop at gnc but their prices are getting ridiculous

honestly, your best bet is probably to watch out for a good sale/promo code (which, unfortunately you prob missed during thanksgiving/christmas/new years haha) and just load up. a while back i got 30lbs of ON at bodybuilding.com for, i think, 20% off. it has a good shelf life so long as you store it properly, so you can buy in bulk to maximize deals. the deals can be on bodybuilding, vitamin shop, even gnc or really pretty much anywhere. obv calculate exactly how much it costs per serving compared to retail price, as some sites will occasionally jack up the listed price prior to a sale, so "20% off" ends up being real similar to their initial listed price (tho i believe this mostly applied to non-us buyers).

re: brands, there was a guy on reddit who tested the quality of various popular brands (results here). this experiment wasn't done by harvard or anything, so take it fwiw. that said, results were in favor of ON being among the best quality/value available.

Running the Toledo Glass City Half Marathon in April. Don't know if anyone else is doing it. Haven't ran Toledo before, heard the course is pretty flat/easier. If anyone else is doing it, let me know.

Lower back has been giving me hell today. I don't know if I slept wrong or what. But it's hurting like the dickens! I've done the every other day workout. I think I need to re-up on my DDPYOGA this week, and do Jillian's in a week. DDP's Strength Builder is good for bad backs/knees.

So I've been on the Slow carb diet for about 6 weeks now. I have not worked out once and when I had to travel back to OH for a week for my grandpas funeral so I ate like shit with all the running to and from the funeral home and cemetery.

Despite this I have lost at least 12 pounds and probably more, (my last weigh in while I was home resulted in 11.2 lbs lost). I don't know how much for sure as I don't have a scale in my apartment. My clothes are starting to fit again and my energy is up. I'm really glad I gave this diet a chance. I'm starting to reintroduce lifting into my life this week and I figure with another two weeks on this diet and keeping up with my fitness going forth I should be able to cut another 10 lbs or so and start to build back up again.

If anyone is trying to lose the last 10 lbs, I would highly recommend checking out the slow carb diet by Tim Ferriss.

My last two weeks of 2013 was pure gluttony, food-wise. Hoping to right those wrongs in the New Year, every person in my house proceeded to get sick over the first two weeks of 2014.

I had a solid week of workouts this week, and it seems like I'll be able to consistently get progress the next couple of weeks.

First Highland Games of the year is this Sunday, about 20mins away from home. I'm not looking forward to 7-9 events spread over a full day, coming off a 24hr shift at the FD. Hopefully, the natives will rest up and instead go crazy on Sunday before the Holiday lol. That said, I pretty much just guaranteed myself a 3am house fire....

I've filled out my rough calendar of competitions/contests/etc, and it projects to be a pretty fun year for me. A couple highland games events, a strongman contest, probably two CrossFit weekend competitions, a weightlifting event or two, and a masters track meet; I'm trying to pull off a trip to York, PA for the Can-Am Firefighter games at the end of June, as well.

Anybody else want to post a race/event/competition they are on the fence about.....so we can all guilt each other into motivation?
