Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
hahaha no like people i meet in class/work, etc just happen to be redditors..id never go to a meet up

i know of one brony IRL and dude is borderline autistic

When I was a kid I always ate whatever I wanted and stayed skinny. But I stopped playing basketball when I got to college and my metabolism caught up with me :chuckles:

I've been running and working out more than ever but I know how essential a good diet is to actually lose weight. My diet is pretty bad, I just don't have much time. Does anyone have any diet suggestions that are pretty quick and affordable on a college student's budget?

Sadly eating healthy is not cheap or quick. Best thing I can recommend is a crockpot. You can do large amounts of chicken or lean pork and have food ready for the week.

Yeah that's what I'm considering. My roommate has a crockpot but I've never used it. I'll be working two jobs this summer and one is for my friends mom just entering data and I'll be getting grossly overpaid. So I should be able to afford to spend a little more. I have some free times on weekends so I'm considering just making a weeks worth of meals like you said.

1 egg + 1 can tuna, steam some frozen broccoli in the microwave while it cooks. Those Cafe Steamers are like 270 cals and ~16g protein and are mostly veggie based..couple one of those with a protein shake for a $3 lunch. Kroger regularly has BOGO bags of chicken breast/tenders too. Get some 10 for $4 yogurt, some flax and fiber bread (6g protein a slice) and a butt load of hot sauce (zero calories mang)

Brussel sprouts are a newfound love for me actually. Enlighten me on ground chicken though if you would!

Also, are any of those calorie counting apps helpful? I've always seen them but never actually used one.

I don't know about apps (much easier to do with a mouse and keyboard, especially if you want to do it right) but tracking your calories is massively beneficial. Once you do it a while you get a feel for how many calories you are consuming and can get a good estimate without using a calculator.

Just try to avoid shortcutting it by entering in pre-made recipes and shit...I hate how everything tries to cater to convenience nowadays, like for example you could probably select "spaghetti with meatballs" as an entree is a calorie counting app. Completely defeats the purpose of calorie counting.

MyFitnessPal is the defacto app. Just eat your food and enter it right after so you arent fudging anything "oh yeah i forgot i had a gronola bar 8 hours ago!". Its kind of a hobby for me now after not liking it for so long.. its a definite must. 90% of results come from dat diet, thats why you see so many different routines that everyone swears by..its because they all ate properly that they got results, exercise is mostly preference/efficiency

Downloading it now. Thanks for the tips guys! When I get into something I get obsessive so I'm sure I won't have any problem entering everything. I like the idea of it because if you commit to putting in everything you eat it makes you feel guilty deviating too much from eating well.

itll make you cut down on drinking calories.. especially beer. Oh look, i just drank 650 calories and im barely buzzed.

A note on drinking: i did some math (shocking!) and one busch light per day for an entire year is the caloric equivalent to 9.5 POUNDS of (average) human fat tissue. Drink 20 beers a week and..jesus christ.

Isn't there something that the alcohol calories in fat don't metabolize the same way or something and aren't "true" calories?

But yeah try drinking a couple Christmas Ales and then enter that into a calorie/macro tracker...yikes.

Inhaling alcohol vapors is great but might kill you. Doesn't stop me from taking a big whiff of a pan when I'm deglazing...

I use the lose it app, any of them work well. As far as ground chicken you get the 99% fat free and just go to town with spices. 8 ounces is something like 160 calories with almost 40 grams of protein

Brussel sprouts stir fry them in olive oil and garlic salt
