Did you watch the game? Even taking some bad shots, the offensive flow, ball movement, and especially the defense were noticeably better with Waiters on the floor. All season he has been pretty good about contributing when his shot isn't falling.

Yes I watch every game and usually watch them 2-3 times each to check certain matchups and patterns more closely. Dion is a lightning rod, you either love him or hate him on this board. If you love him he tends to do no wrong and he is overvalued based on his actual production massively. If you hate him he tends to do no right, is a chucker, and a malcontent. Truthfully in his current form he is something in the middle. I try to stay as objective as possible.

If you read my entire post you see that overall I said he gave a good effort. There are clear improvements needed for him to go from a slightly below average 2 guard to a high caliber player and I was simply pointing one of those things out. He is still young and without a doubt will work on those things.

Have to fix the second half of rotations. Despite Dion's good efforts in OT, I just don't like him playing from the middle of the third quarter till the end of the game. Need to figure out a way to get him a break, obviously with Miles being strongly preferred over Jack

If you agree that Waiters or Irving should be on the floor at all times then as long as Waiters gets starter minutes you shouldn't care that he came off the bench.

I don't think he is a long term starter in this league at least on a good team (I really hope i'm wrong), but if you start him over jack the rotations basically fix themselves. Jack gets the burn he needs and Dion can rest at more logical segments.

Maybe but the team does really really well when Dion and Delly are paired together. I'd like to maximize their amount of minutes together while allowing Dion to finish games with Irving. Not really what the best way to do that is.

It's fine if Dion comes off the bench while we have a lead, but more often than not, we are behind. Thus, we are wasting the beginning 6-8mins in the 1st and 3qtr. We are not good enough of a team to do that.

Dion is my favourite player at the moment, but I still would not start him.
Irving / Miles to start
Waiters / Delly off the bench.
Jack to work in concession stand
Team is getting their winning buffer through the Dion / Delly combination mid game. I am reluctant to see it changed.

We're playing better because Dion is getting more consistent minutes. Just put him on the floor and you'll see results.

dion averages 9.2 minutes in the 4th quarter. 13th in the league.

I don't care. But Dion cares. He would rather start than come off the bench. It means something to him. If you're going to give him starter's minutes, why not just start him? The myth that he and Kyrie don't play well together has been debunked as far as I'm concerned...just start the kid. He's earned it.

And before anyone points to his numbers improving since being moved to the bench...that's a BS stat. Everyone struggled to start the season. Dion actually started putting up nice numbers as a starter before his switch to 6th man.

Because...

I mean the guy can defend his position effectively. He plays with effort and hustle. And he's one of the better SGs in the league from an offensive standpoint. He's a good all-around player who still has much more for improvement/development as he's only 22 years old.

I don't see why people are so hell bent on making this guy play the super-sub role. He impacts the game in multiple ways. If he isn't scoring well, he's still defending effectively.

He's a starter.

I don't want Dion on the bench because he doesn't fit well with Kyrie.

I want him on the bench because I don't trust Jack to carry second unit and Delladodongo isn't good enough to do it yet. Jack and Delly look like ass together.\

During the off-season we can fix this but if you want to win now I think this is the best option.

dont forget you got cj as the back up 3 now and able to move over to the 2.with an emrging zeller and Bennett in the frontcourt

Just because Kyrie and Dion start doesn't mean we'd be forced to run a Jack/Delly backcourt off the bench. Just keep one of either Kyrie or Dion in at all times. Can even get really creative and Keep Deng in with the bench and have a Jack/Delly and CJ backcourt. Multiple combinations.

It's possible to start two players and still have one of them in the game at all times.

And yes, it's so easy a potato can do it
