Just to clear up I said outside shooter, not 3 point. If you look at his breakdowns for each segment of the floor past 13ish feet he is below average in almost everything. Honestly he is one of my favorite players on the team, he is one of those guys that is so emotional it actually hurts him at times. Id rather have a guy that cared over a zombie any day though.

According to NBA.com's shot chart, Dion is average or better from virtually every spot on the floor other than the paint.

Good chance Dion has 4 games left in a Cavs jersey. Part of me will be sad to see him go.

I stand corrected if thats for the full season. When I last looked there was a ton of yellow and red.

This is what I was going by Even looking on nba.com at the breakdowns even just the last 30 days he is below average.

Yup, that's for the whole season (not sure if there's a way to do splits on shot charts anyway).

He has lots of room for improvement too. If he turns some of those long 2's into 3's, starts shooting closer to 50% at the rim, and starts making more of his free throws, he'll quickly become a pretty efficient scorer. And he just turned 22 a couple months back, so I don't think it's unrealistic to think that he'll accomplish most or all of those things over the next three years, in addition to becoming a more consistent facilitator.

In other words, I would rather we don't trade him for peanuts next week :chuckles:

From The Bullshit Whisperer:

Grizzlies' Dave Joerger: "Cavs had the 2 best players on the floor (Kyrie, Waiters). I definitely think they're gonna turn the corner."

Cavs Waiters says he's partially to blame Chris Grant lost job: "If we'd played the way we have last 2 games he’d probably still be here."

Interesting that Joerger sold his players short. Gasol just won the Defensive Player of the Year Award last season. But tonight, Kyrie and Dion were the best players. Man, I REALLY hope that Kyrie and Dion figure it out. If they EVER do, before one of them gets traded, that's a deadly combination.

Love that Dion quote. Taking some of the blame.

Dion's FG% is 11th in the league from mid range out of guards with 3 or more attempts.

Dion is 9th in fg% amongst guards from 16-24 feet at 44.5% 25th at 24+

from 15-to 19 theres only 18 guards who take 3 or more shots a game. Dion is 6th amongst those guys.

Those shots your complaining about Waiters taking.. he is one of the top guys in the league at him. its his bread and butter.

Dion does need to improve on his conversions up close but shooting guards dont make their living 5- 14 feet from the basket. its 15+

Really interesting stuff in that link.

Not meant as a Dion vs. Kyrie thing, but I think it will surprise a lot of people to see that Dion has better percentages from 10-14, 15-19, and 20-24 feet out than Kyrie. Also, lends credence to the concept that once/if he can raise his FG% of shots 0-5 feet(almost exclusively drive, layups, fingerrolls, and reverses) that his shooting percentage will actually be quite good for the modern day SG position.

And I've begun to see him attempt at improving in that area with things like not exposing the ball so early (although he still is very inconsistent with this), finishing with his left hand, and just working on finishing in general. We need Jack out of here pronto if we are going to see Dion shine and become an all-star level player.

Btw, when I saw that Dion had gotten 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and played abusive defense much of the game, I totally got a hard on. Yes, homo.
