Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's amazing that there are still Dion apologists and they always have a built in excuse for the guy..

"This situation wasn't right for him" "He needs to be the primary ball handler" "He needs to be in a better environment"

When will the excuses stop and we focus on his faults and that HE'S the problem?
just give it a few years and him bouncing around to a few more teams. someday, reality will hit 'em.

What's funny is that most players aren't in situations that are perfect for them. Hell, Durant and Westbrook could probably do more on different teams. But good players adapt and try and fit. Dion apparently needs an entire team tailor made to his exact "talents" or else he simply can't be even an average level NBA player. This is what we call a bad player.

"The situation wasn't right for him" can probably be used for a ton of players in the NBA. How often do guys get traded and then thrive, or tank there?

Hell, you could say the situation wasn't right for JR Smith in NY. He gets traded to the Cavs and fits right into a winning situation.

You could say the situation isn't right for Kevin Love in Cleveland. If he were traded to a different situation where he was the #1 option his stats would explode.

The situation wasn't right for Mozgov in Denver. And on and on.

So duh, the situation affects the player.

Bottom line, it's up to the player to do the best they can in the situation they are in. In Dion's case he blamed the situation. That's never going to fly no matter where he is.

You can only blame the situation for so long. Mozgov was still productive in Denver. JR came to Cleveland, a team Dion didn't fit because of the situation, and now he's thriving.

Dion sounded like he liked the situation in OKC...

The excuses will run out. Dion is what he is, and frankly, it's not much. This is coming from someone who was a HUGE Dion fan. But I can only be fooled by a player for so long.

The Thunder should trade Waiters to Boston(where he may actually be slightly useful) for an early 2nd rounder or late first rounder while they still can.

Why are people still making things kyrie vs Dion. Dion showed he had better on court leadership and kept his teammates involved. Kyrie in the meantime has turned the page and improved this aspect of his game.

I expect Dion to pick up after the all star break. He has been solid on the defensive end and is making strides in his overall game. The poor shooting isnt a big deal really.
Ive tried to watch every OKC game since the trade
Dion had back issues before he got clocked early in the season and playing through it has impacted his form. he also is having ankle issues.

The All star break will do him some good.

No he didn't.

Yea, who cares if shooting guards that shoot a ton can't actually shoot. No biggie.

Because he's streaky and moody. Same as in Cleveland.

So following up a great game with a bad game is just what he does, eh? He had 21 points on 13 shots, along with 6 assists, after that 55 points. And the 55 point game itself came right after he exploded for 38.

Here's "classic Dion" - following up a 3-10 outing with 3-14.

He has referring to two games later when he had only 12 points with 4 rebs 4 ast and 2 stls.

I know he scored 34 points on 51% shooting in the previous 4 games, and I know we won his off game by 16, but him having one off game after a big 4 game run is just proof Kyrie is just not that good. Good players never, ever have bad games.

Give it up man. You was 100%, categorically, bar none, fuck Jason Collins in the ass, WRONG ABOUT DION.

It's astonishing to me that a team with the talent that OKC has would allow Dion to come in and chuck long two point shots. It's unforgivable.

In Cleveland this year, Dion shot 29% of all his shots from 16 to 22 feet.
In Okla. City this year, Dion has shot 32% of all his shots from 16 to 22 feet, the highest percentage of shots from that distance in his career.

In Cleveland this year, Dion shot 55.6% in the restricted area around the basket.
In Okla. City this year, Dion has shot 43.6% (!!) in the restricted area around the basket.

He's only shooting 27% from three and only 27% on wide open corner threes.

His defense has been really good in some games, but man, he's just jacking up one bad shot after another and then missing shots at the rim.

Nothing says keeping your teammates involved like stopping the ball and bricking long, contested step back two pointers multiple times a game.

A new coach will do him good. Starting will do him good. A new team will do him good. Now the All-Star break will do him good.

LOL.
