Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Strange situation.
Reggie Jackson and Dion fill the same roles for them. Jackson has fallen off bad and Dion is Dion. Really surprised they're giving him such a free hand. If he would stick just with defense he'd be actually a reasonable role player for them.

They should have really moved Jackson for a shooter when they got Dion.

Still sad to think how good the Thunder could have been if they had kept Harden. Presti and their cheapskate owner may have pissed away a dynasty there. Dealing Harden right after the team made the fucking Finals was easily one of the worst moves of all time.

Which sucks because now Durant is probably heading East in a year.

Last year Dion took the 3rd most mid-range shots among SGs and shot a very respectable 43% from there. Obviously, not a shot you want your offense to take every trip, but to fall back on that shot, an offense can do worse. He also shot over 40% from 3 on catch and shoot attempts.

His defense this year has been solid, and at times really good, even bordering on elite (at least on his man, help D is a different story).

I don't really feel like he was being used much differently than he was last year, so I can't really point the finger at anyone but him. I still think he grows and becomes an above average player in the NBA, but it wasn't going to happen here. The situation in OKC looks pretty darn similar as to what he was in here, so I doubt it happens there, either.

At this point, I'm convinced he wants to play on a crappy team so he can have a shot at being "the man" with a chance to score a big payday, and he'll probably be a cancer on any team until that happens.

@Tornicade give it up man. You're not going to win this battle.

Please show me last year where he kept his teammates involved and leadership?

It's amazing that there are still Dion apologists and they always have a built in excuse for the guy..

"This situation wasn't right for him" "He needs to be the primary ball handler" "He needs to be in a better environment"

The ideal environment for Dion is a rebuilding team that wants to put a few butts in the seats without winning many games. Although I'm not sure that's actually a positive.

Actually, I'm not even sure he'd be the ideal guy in that role. He's simply not good enough at finishing, nor does he have even Ricky Davis triple-double potential, to actually excite fans of a losing team.

Just keeps getting more humorous. OKC absolutely grasping at straws... a 6'4 small forward.

Dion Waiters will start at small forward against the Magic on Monday.

He's been a big letdown with his new team, but he might have his biggest chance tonight. Waiters is one of the most inefficient players in the NBA, but he has a chance to score a lot next to Russell Westbrook. There's obviously a lot of risk here.

Waiters is so inefficient that when I open the box score and see he's shooting over 50%, I almost don't believe it.

Dion is having himself a good game tonight at small forward actually. If he puts together a nice string of game's he's going to put you back in hiding.:celb (13):

This is the first game Dion has shot above 40 percent since - wait for it, wait for it - 8 games ago January 18th...

I agree, not a bad game at all. Decent shooting night. 19 points, (8-13 from the field), 2 rebounds. +15.

Why not? He did it last season especially after the all star break when he was able to play his game and was a consistent scorer for us.

Post All-Star Break Dion Waiters: 19.2 PPG on 45.2% from the field, 37.7% from 3, and 74.1% from the line in 33.0 MPG.

You see there is a reason statistics are looked at as a whole you could take a snippet from any player and make them look like a world beater. Good players do it consistently. There is a reason rotoworld calls Dion one of the least efficient players in the NBA and that is because he is exactly that.

I don't know how much evidence you need before you realize that he is a below average player, but obviously you want to turn a blind eye to the facts which makes the discussion pointless.
