Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still don't get the Dion love. Is it just because we (over)drafted him? He's the definition of a chucker... Career 41% shooter, career below-average 3pt shooter (though he did have a nice year this year from deep), career sub70% FT shooter. He's mediocre defensively, has shown an inability to accept his role, and a propensity to take dumb contested shots.

Miami can have him.
some of us watch him play instead of looking at his stats.

He elevated Miami last year. He has the ability and the skills. its just a matter of time before they manifest themselves and he gets over the hump.

as far as being over drafted.
Thomas Robinson -
Damian Lilliard - a Point guard. we already had Irving
Harrison Barnes -
Terrence Ross-
Andre Drummond- the Franchise - as in his franchise would love to trade him
Austin Rivers

You draft these guys based on how they are gonna play in the 5th season and Dion showed he is just as good as any of them last season.

None of them (outside of Damin who we would of never drafted regardless)have really done anything to elevate themselves as a better pick than Dion. Harrison Barnes who had the good fortune of having Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry to run with.

Are you seriously arguing that Dion had a better season than Barnes just did???

Even that's not true, like, at all.
Dion only played 46 games last season.

Miami was 27-19 in that stretch they were 17-22 without him.

when looking at their stats we are comparing a 3/4 to a 2/3 so lets look at look at EFG
EFG Barnes .498, Dion EFG .488

also with the discrepancy in games player.. I am gonna go with per 100 possesions

Harrison Barnes Scored 28.2 points and Dion 26.6
Rebounds 7.3 for Barnes , 5.6 for Waiters
Assist 7.3 Dion 2.2 for Barnes
Steals 1.5 for Dion. 1.2 for Barnes.
Blocks .7 for Dion, .3 for Barnes

Vorp Barnes .1 , Dion .4

http://bkref.com/tiny/KzSU7

as far as shooting percentage. Barnes was assisted on 43% of his 2 point shots. while Dion created his own shots being assisted on 19%
from 3 point range Dion was assisted 80% of the time compared to Barnes 94%
Corner threes Dion was hitting 51% to Barnes 31%

Also Barnes was -3 on court and +.7 off. . Dion was +2.9 on and +2.6 off

lets move on over to the defensive end.

Dion who was often guarding taller and bigger small forwards held his opponents to -4.3 percent below their average.

Harrison Barnes meanwhile differential was .3

Dion had just as good of a season as Harrison Barnes.
and unlike Barnes. Dions team played better when he was on the court.

Dion had just as good of a season as Harrison Barnes.
and unlike Barnes. Dions team played better when he was on the court.

Dions never had a small sample size of above average play before...

1300 minutes is so much not a small sample size.

You asked me to compare seasons and I did. Harrison Barnes did not have a better season than Dion.
They are the same caliber of player after 5 seasons in the league.

Brendan Haywood dropped some info today saying he, Mike Miller, and James Jones would pull Dion to the side and tell him change his game to mesh with Love, Kyrie, LeBron, stop the step back jumpers, Haywood said Dion would then reply with "they need to give me the ball and get out my way, I can create for them too"

Haywood said he already knew Dion wasn't playing in January with that team from that moment. Griff laughed.

Him and Griff were chit chatting.

Whats sad is, Dion is actually a very solid playmaker. He is just dumber than shit when it comes when and how to create vs shoot.

Dion Waiters will be the 2018-2019 MVP. If you think differently you don't know shit about basketball.

It is not healthy to compare two players by standardized stats(per 100 possesssion etc), where one has played double minutes compared to the other one. It is impossible to tell how the other one would do if played twice the minutes.

Harrison Barnes is good? He looks terrible whenever I have seen him. Just doesn't even seem to have basketball instincts. His reaction time is like moving in slow motion despite being very athletic. I don't get him at all.

I get Dion. He isn't that smart

If Dion was a football player, he’d be Chad Johnson.

If Chad Johnson was a double amputee.
