Does Giannis Antetokounmpo starting at PG scare anybody?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is this one of those ceiling/likely/basement things for "Antetokounmpo as a PG"? IF so, I disagree, he wasn't shooting 1k jumpers a day on set during the summer like Darius.

It is a pictorial journey through the last decade and a half of failed super sized point guards.

If this wasn't Jason Kidd making this move I would be more intrigued, however I would not put it past him at this point to do something just to try and look like the smartest guy in the room. Trying out a guy as raw as Antetokounmpo looks like that kind of deal. Does he ever develop enough to play point? Maybe, but he has alot to work on still as everyone knows. It would be cool if he does, and we know Kidd would happily take credit if it did happen.

Oh, absolutely. Jason Kidd has about as big an ego as you are going to find in the NBA. I can't imagine why the Bucks would even want him as their head coach, let alone the downright shameful circumstances surrounding his hire, other than the fact that they are one of the most poorly-managed franchises in the NBA and maybe even all of North American professional sports.

The thing that tall PGs have to deal with is the dribble height. When you're tall, the ball has farther to travel for each dribble, and quality defensive PGs (Chris Paul), will make life miserable for Giannis. He's far too frail/thin/weak/slight to use his hips to keep defenders away from the dribble like Magic did so effectively. His handle also isn't nearly as good as they should be for an NBA level PG. In addition to Kidd trying to be smarter than everyone else, this reeks of a coach trying to put his best players on the floor, regardless of position and fit. Giannis is an incredibly raw player as it is, and should absolutely learn to be a SF, but he has Jabari Parker that should play SF, John Henson that should play PF (along with Irsan Ilyasova), and Larry Sanders at C.

It'll be interesting to see how Giannis does, but I have a hard time believing he'll succeed in the NBA as a full-time PG.

Giannis has a lot of potential, but passing is about his only really NBA skill on offense, so this is probably a good use for him. Keeping him off the ball almost completely takes him out of the game right now.

The rest of the Bucks need a more willing passer than Knight and it is hard to play Wolters & Knight on defense at the same time, so it is probably good for the rest of the team. Giannis along side Wolters or Knight is good on defense because those small guards need to be hidden to some extent.

If it works out, the Bucks have converted a limited player into a useful player. If it doesn't work out, they get another high draft pick.

Sounds like a great idea.

i think eventually the greek freak will be something very special. i look forward to watching him develop. wish he was on the cavs roster.

What is their lineup exactly? Who is playing the 2? Playing Knight at the 2 since he is a combo guard makes the most sense to me. They can switch defensive assignments. I agree with Douglar that his best attribute is his passing so he should have the abll in his hands to some extent. Pairing him with another guy who can bring it up the floor is the best idea like Knight.

Adamking is right about the high dribble. This is Lebron's biggest weakness IMO and we have seen both the Celtics and Spurs attack his dribble when he gets into the paint. He has great handles, but the high dribble exposes you to deflections and steals.
