Draft Day!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We should have a very effective passing year.

We got Trent Dilfer who is a ok quarterback but with some expeince.
Then Kellen Winslow at the TE.
Braylon Edwars, Andre Davis and Dennis Northcutt being are 3 main Wide Recievers.

Only thing that worries me still is the Offensive Line.

Funny thing is that in that equation you didn't mention Antonio Bryant, who some had listed as the best WR on the team. The passing game should be effective if Dilfer can stay upright.

While the Pool pick grows on me the more I read on it, I still like Barnes. Even if he doesn't start, if there is an injury to Coleman/Andruzzi it would allow the Browns to move Verba inside and plug Barnes in at LT. I would have liked him, but the Pool pick doesn't bother me right now.

Braylon Edwards
Brodney Poole
Charlie Frye

Good first day. We have so many needs its ridiculous. We hopefully fillled our # 1 receiver issue, and don't you sleep on Brodney Poole, Savage likes em ;) . Charlie Frye was a steal in the third round.

Very good first day by a great drafter in Savage. Never doubt savage. ;)

Now we need a few second round steals

I like the 1st day. The Browns got good players with each pick. Getting Frye in the 3rd is a nice value pick.

Edwards was the best player on the board at #1. It's a good pick. With no good trade offers there was not a better player available to take at that spot. The Browns could use a #1 WR. They have a bunch of #2 and #3 WR's now. Other than the recent Patriot teams, virtually every Super Bowl team in the last 25 years has had at least 1 big time WR. I do think you can win with studs at that position.

I'm ok with the Pool pick in the 2nd. I might have preferred Dan Cody DE/OLB from Oklahoma or Khalif Barnes T from Washington but Pool is a good prospect.

There's still a very good DT available early tomorrow in Antraj Hawthorne from Wisconsin. He would be a nice NT prospect to take with the Browns #4 pick.

After the first day being over I'd say we did the best we could of possible did. So I'll give Phil Savage an A.

I think we had a great first day. Im really happy we were able to snatch up Frye after he fell to the third round. I would go pretty much all defense with our remaining picks.

ahh yes what a new front office can do for a franchise. :D

i am sitting here today glad about the picks we got. we got a little lucky, things are starting to turn our way.

Agree with the defense decision but if there is an offensive lineman there and we can pick him up I say you have to do it. Because I'm still ify on our O-Line.

amac u were right he slipped to the 3rd round and im excited we got him..

im also real excited for the other 2 picks. im also excited for tomorrows picks even though i most likely wont know any of em.... :D

I dont know how many of you can call this a great draft, it isn't at all..

I like Pool and I like Frye, but the first day passes and we did not improve our team this year.

But in the end, Edwards will be a very good WR and Pool, I dont think I would have passed on Barnes either..Frye is solid for our future QB.

Somebody asked who I would have taken...I would have took whatever any team offered me in a trade down. I would have selected Merriman in that trade down or DJ.

So I would have Davis and Merriman.DJ on the field instead of Edwards and I would take that 100 days out of 100 days.

Im not eluding that Edwards is a good WR or will be one, I think he will be very good....but the bottom line is WRs will not win you a game.

A RB can, so a QB isnt the only one. And a LT plays every single offense play. A WR is in maybe 5 plays a game, close to 10 if he a great WR. So really here, a WR isnt making that much of a difference when our #1 WR is WInslow anyway....Bryant is more than capable of catching 75 balls, and Davis can get 50+ in his sleep if he stays healthy.

So excuse me for not being excited about Edwards....nevermind his questionable hands...Im just talking facts of a WR.

Ill give this draft a C so far, because neither Frye nor Pool will provide anything for the next two years. (maybe Frye). Edwards is not in an offense that will allow him to be great, but he will be solid...hopefully, David Terrell was a great UM WR and was a bust.

Just be happy we arent Denver, who selected three straight corner backs and then Mo Clarrett..

:chuckles:

i dont know denver produces rb's somehow..

i wasn't sure but do we still have Luke McCown?

the thing about this draft we need to remeber is that this team is still a few years away. bringing in edwards was a no brainer. he was the best player on the board and some rated the number one player in the draft. does he fill some holes we have, no. he does though become the face of this franchise. his presence alone opens up the field for everyone else. if he is doubled team then you cannot double winslow or bryant. our running game will open up, or average o-line will look better all by adding pressure to the defense to guard this guy and winslow. so edwards will make this team and offense, that was last in the afc, better..

brodney pool was another good pick. we will have a nice young crop at the saftey spot next year. if sean jones is healthy we will be getting better.

as for my hometown boy frye.. how exciting.. little cuz going to the browns..

this first day of the draft was a building block for our future. we are not going to have all the pieces over night and this team is not going to be real competitive for a couple of years. so be patient everyone we are on the right track..
