Dwight Howard Saga

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dwight was trying to be some kind of hard ass to the reporters but nothing he said made any sense.

Media: "Stan said that he heard you want him fired."
Dwight: "What did I say?"
Media: "No, Stan said he heard from management that you want him fired."
Dwight: "Oh yeah? Who'd he hear that from?"
Media: "Uh..management."
Dwight: "Oh really?"
Media: "Yeah I'm just telling you--"
Dwight: "And I'm just telling you."

Um...ok Dwight. :chuckles:

I love how Stan knows it was about to get awkward and jets.

Stan handled it beautifully. He is really taking it in stride. Howard on the other hand. What a douche. Talk about absolutely trashing all your fan good will in one year. If he had handled this situation with even the modicum of common sense, he could have walked away from Orlando and not really be seen as the bad guy. Those comments to the reporters. Sheesh. How can he think in any way that they actually would believe that crap he was spewing? It's about as well played as telling the teacher the dog ate your homework.

SVG seems like a cool dude honestly.

I see Stan coaching for the clippers next year...

edit: It's weird seeing another organization doing the same thing we did with Lebron. It's just we all know better. Pandering to your star player can only do so much. It makes Orlando look really bad organizationally, and it makes me mad that we looked like that too. I never want to be in a situation like this in Cleveland. A player can't be more important than the franchise itself.

I'm pretty impressed with Dwight's lack of acknowledgment in this interview. This is gold. As I have been M.I.A. for almost a year from RCF, this has brought me back. Awesome!

Dwight just keeps trying to play this free agency like LeBron, all the while forgetting that

a. LeBron would like a re-do on his life the past two years and

b. The people around him have already seen how it played out for the people around LeBron, and have concluded that catering to a spoiled brat doesn't end up helping anybody but the brat.

Hey Dwight, I left the toughest middle school in my city for the most sought after middle school, and I did it without anyone in this caddy school district saying a bad thing about me. I'll reveal my secrets to you for a cool $10,000. Contact RCF for career advice. Ask for Keys.

The NBA... where amazing happens. :chuckles:

Interesting that they put it on their website and left it there.
I know it would go viral anyway, but still, it seems like some sort of statement.

So awkward, I could barely watch.
SVG is cool.

It would be pretty funny if the Magic then go out and hire Jeff van Gundy. Teach Howard to be careful about what he wishes for.

I don't care if I get hate for this, but Dwight is handling this way worse than LeBron did. Yes, "The Decision" was stupid and probably a mistake LeBron will always regret, but Dwight has put the Magic organization through so much BS the last couple of years. I mean, LeBron really didn't lead us on. You can take that as you want, but he was openly listening to offers from every team, and it wasn't that huge of suprise. I applaud Stan Van Gundy for taking all this like a champ too. He has handled it beautifully. Coach of the Year candidate in my book.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse. . .

dwight howard could not be any more of a fuckass.

I wish stan van gundy was my dad.

One thing I learned in life is that stupid people think that other people are on their level of stupidity. That's why stupid people continue to do the things they do that leaves normal people shaking their heads in disbelief.

Dwight couldn't even come up with anything better than "Who'd he hear that from?" etc. If you're gonna lie, come up with a better series of replies than that. The real kicker for me, was when he came and put his arm around SVG. That, and SVG random sips of Pepsi. So amazingly awesome!

Being that we are so experienced in this sort of thing, if I was a fan, I'd trade Dwight this offseason. Take it out of his hands. Trade him to the highest bidder, no matter where it is.

He's puttting the franchise and true fans through hell, and it's only going to get worse. Stan is a hell of a coach, and will probably end up being fired to try to appease Dwight.

Would like to know Butters' opinion on trading him...
