Dwyane Wade Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, if you're getting angry at Le Batard you're missing the point.

Actually...you ARE the point.

I DESPISE Dan LeBatard. But I would watch Highly Questionable every day for the rest of the summer if Wade comes here.

I don't do twitter, but if Wade takes a 13mil paycut to come to Cleveland, I might make one just to troll Bomani Jones and Jorge Sedano. They don't even try to hide their Cleveland hate.

"So, Jorge, how does it feel watching the 2 greatest Heat players of all time take paycuts to come to Cleveland in consecutive years?"

I strongly dislike Bomani Jones, but Le Batard and his crew (Stugotz, dad, and Mike Ryan) are entertaining to the max. Even when they're making fun of us it's more enjoyable than anything that comes out of Cleveland media which is a joke. I'd rather listen to professional ass clowns than a "professional" who makes an ass clown of himself (Bruce Drennan for example).

Also, they now placed Chalmers and Bird Man on the trading block. Gosh the Heat are so cheap. I know it's a last gasp seemingly to try and keep Wade but the fact that the owners are so cheap can't resonate well with Wade.

An update on the Wade situation.

Highlights from the article:

-The two sides will meet in the next few days to try to hash things out.
-The two sides haven't talked since Miami lowballed him.
-Miami wants to move Chalmers and Birdman to free up more room for guys.
-Miami will be paying the repeater tax for first time. Is a reason why they want to keep Wade's contract low.
-Cleveland and the Clips are places Wade would like to go, but Miami aren't expected to be willing to comply.

My thoughts:

If Miami doesn't raise their number significantly at this meeting things could turn really ugly. I also get the feeling that Miami (and Riley specifically) will let him walk rather than help him find a landing spot.

This is awesome. The Heat are so butt hurt and are literally doing the same things CLE fans did with Dallas after 2011. Hilarious.

What teams can offer Wade say a 3 yr $45m deal?

I feel like it's a small segment of teams that can sign him to something like that and want to sign him to something like that. I know the Knicks and Lakers can and while they're great markets, I can't imagine Wade going to a 17 or 21 win team this late into his career.

Looking at it from that standpoint and seeing what would have to happen for him to get traded to the Clips or to the Cavs, I would put my money on the Heat and Wade coming to some sort of compromise.

even worse. I don't recall anyone from Cleveland pulling this level of shit.

I would think the Clips are the more likely destination, unless LeBron really pushes hard for Wade to join him here.

I agree with you that the smart money is on Wade staying in Miami.

But.... Wade wants the money he invested in Miami back. I think that's getting lost on in some of the discussion.

He's saying, I opted out of a $42M/2 contract; signed for $16.1M for cap spacing, and you guys gave Bosh a max and are offering Dragic 80/5. Mind you, that offer will go up to a max deal. Almost assuredly some team will want to lock in Dragic on an 80M/4 year deal pushing the Heat to 100M/5.

The Dragic leak is to try to see if Dragic will test the waters; but of course he will. Teams like L.A. and New York would gladly offer him a max deal. There's also talk that the Pelicans would offer him a full-max.

Heat are kidding themselves with Dragic and they must think Wade's a fool to believe he'd sign for $16M/yr when teams are offering $20M/4 more.

So going back to the original point, Bosh and Dragic will both be making $20M+ this upcoming season. Wade is saying, okay, I want the same deal.

I personally think Wade would sign for less just to stay in Miami. I really believe the reports that he'd be fine at his current salary, but with an extra 2 years of guaranteed salary and a no-trade clause. We'll see this week though.
