Ebola...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Heard on NPR a few minutes ago, she may not have been completely forthcoming with CDC. She was in cleveland to plan her wedding, and canceled events because she was too ill.

The thing is that when you contract a terminal illness, isn't the first stage Denial? We cant screw around with this thing. CDC is being to cocky about thier preparedness.

Yup.

This guy is either crazy or onto something.

"Every 3rd world country is going to fall"

"We have a very large 3rd world country to our south and the doors are wide open. This spells disaster soon and we will be worse off than a 3rd world country if we don't control this soon"

It should be noted that he is an Emergency Trauma doctor and operates on a worst-case scenario basis.

I'll lay odds on the latter.

I feel like punching Frieden. He's claiming the reason a flight ban isn't a good idea is that they'll just come in another way where they aren't tracked and screened. First, we don't track anyone once they've entered, so that's a non-starter. Second, if he's correct, then the flight screenings don't do any good anyway because anyone barred would just come in another way.

The reality is that yes, it is theoretically possible that someone could catch a flight or boat to South or Central America, and the try to come north. But the reality is that is far more time consuming, difficult, and expensive than a direct flight, which is going to induce a lot of those people to either cancel the trip completely, or go to somewhere much easier to get to than North America. The net effect of a flight ban is to significantly reduce the number of people from the affected nations who come to the U.S.. It's a self-evident truth that he's just refusing to acknowledge.

Christ, just got an email from my mother that the nurse who came back to Cleveland interacted with an employee where my father works.

What a dumb bitch.

And the CDC didn't do anything except inform them.

The employee was notified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). A second employee has self-identified as possibly having contact. Out of an abundance of caution, the company immediately requested that the employees remain home from work, with pay, through the incubation period for the virus, which is up to 21 days.

How can it be that congress has to tell the CDC to expand the ability to handle ebola patients beyond a capacity of 2 patients?

im going to go out on a limb and say youre dad is going to be 100% okay.

Odds are, yes....just goes to show you how easily the threat can spread.

So without going into a lot of detail my job is chem and bio defense related. Ebola doesn't even hit the top ten bio concerns we have. Thats how much any of you should care about Ebola
