I'm sure you are all aware of the recent tragedy in Houston:

http://www.khou.com/story/news/crim...ing-last-piece-of-chicken-at-dinner/75036070/

Two friends torn apart by the violent repercussions of only one piece of chicken left, naturally ending in a stabbing.

One might think this is an isolated incident. Think again...

Just a few months ago in Muncie, Indiana, a woman was stabbed in the eye for "eating all the food" after helping herself to the last rib.

What at first seemed like a pair of unrelated incidents is beginning to look like an international pandemic. Just a few short months earlier in January, a Waco, Texas man expected chicken for lunch. What transpired next rose tension to a breaking point as his girlfriend bought pizza instead.

Predictably, this chicken and/or ribs related conflict escalated into a stabbing.

Is there a way that we, as a society, can begin to address chicken and rib related violent assaults? Should we blame politicians? Schools? Colonel Sanders and the food industry he leads? How do we make significant shifts in how we react to chicken and rib related frustration?

I would have said Colonel Sanders a few months ago when KFC was doing those horribly creepy commercials with the new Colonel, but now that the Creepy Colonel has been replaced with Norm MacDonald, I'd hesitate to say they're at fault.

Oh, we can't just blame the Colonel. He is the emblematic spearhead of the food industry's assault on the common man's struggle between sensibilities and hunger, but far from the root cause. He doesn't even sell ribs, which appears to be the western front in this war:

Here we see a 61 year old Austin, Texas woman driven to murder her own kin over leftover ribs just over one month ago. She expected the leftovers to be there and they werent.

This would probably happen to me if I ever moved somewhere that didn't have a Bojangles.

Well, I live in central Texas. And in fairness, the ribs here are pretty damn good.

I mean, look at this thing:

That's probably $40 worth of rib right there. I'd stab somebody too if they took the last one.

This thread makes me want ribs. But now i wonder if I should carry if I head to the rib shack.

Better safe than sorry I suppose. Plus, if someone happens to be leaving with a big bag of ribs, I can just rob them.

I feel like some people are making light of the threat chicken and ribs violence can play in our lives and our communities. People might be thinking, "It doesn't effect me." Well, chicken and ribs violence knows no age, creed or color. We have seen a 17 year old African American child stricken down at a family function over the last piece of chicken, Earnest Hart RIP:

We have seen a 31-year-old British guy stab another man on Christmas Day over a chicken and pasta meal, Joe Lewis RIP:

These cases have two things in common: #1 being chicken, #2 being stabbing.

I'm seeking the cause. I'm looking to find the cause and address the cause. Is it the chicken, or is it the egg? Theories?

It's obviously the chicken.

Dumbass....

I'd stab you for that. :conf (11):

When I was a kid, I smacked my brother over the head with a bowl when he tried to steal the last cookie from me. He bled a lot too. No one gets between me an my cookie. I can relate to these crazies. You've all been warned.

Does the weight of said murders fit into a theme of any sort?

Are these ppl hungry and skinny?
Are these ppl hungry and fat?

I'd be interested to see if there's any correlation to the murders

Fantastic question. Themes do arise if you read the articles:

1. Poverty with those doing the stabbing. Fixed incomes mean you can't just go out and buy more meat. That last piece of chicken or last rib represents the end of some splurge.

2. No firearms. I hear a lot about gun control, but I have to say that it's hard to find stories of hunger shootings, but hunger stabbings are all over the news. Maybe it's because cave men didn't have firearms. I read in The Federalist that a guy gets fatally stabbed once every five hours in the United States, five times more often than a fatal shooting. I'd hate to be that guy.

Clearly the only solution is to ban knives!

Ribs in Los Angeles are fucking trash... These people know nothing of BBQ.

Why don't we just ban ribs and chicken? Problem solved... :disdain (15):
