Eurotrip

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thanks to everyone who has provided suggestions in the thread.

Just a quick update....we found out that booking our flight via Iceland Air can save us a ton of money. The best deal I found was $685 for the round trip, and that includes flights to and from Copenhagen. We can then catch a pretty cheap flight elsewhere in Europe.

With that in mind, I think we're going to spend a day/night in Reykjavik since we'll be stopping there anyway. Based on what I've read about the place, it sounds like there's more than enough to keep us occupied.

Swing by Denmark, we'll treat you right :chuckle:

Seriously though, Rome is incredible to walk around in but there is going to a LOT of tourists there over the summer so that might be a bit frustrating. I can really recommend Barcelona as well, it has some otherworldly architecture and there are tons of great bars, and generally a really cool laid back atmosphere. Paris is beautiful but the people are rude as fuck, but that's just a France thing...

Watch that movie Hostel during your plane ride :chuckle:

Just another update...apparently my friend Alex will be in Europe around the same time as us. She's locked into an Italy trip with some friends until the 22nd of June (which was about when we were originally planning to leave), but after that she's planning to meet up with us and even offered to let us stay for free in London for a few days. Apparently she has a wealthy relative there with more than enough space. So it looks like we'll be tacking a couple of days in London on to the end of our trip now.

Really glad I went to grab a few beers with her and one of my other friends earlier today. :chuckle:

Careful where in Italy, some cities have very little nightlife. I've heard universally great things about Madrid, Barcelona and Mykenos.

My friends and I are taking a trip after take the bar in July hitting Up Madrid, Barcelona, Sorrento, and Mykenos, Greece. Not trying to hijack thread but any input on the cities I have mentioned above would also be appreciated.

We're not going to Italy. My friend is on her own trip. She's gonna meet up with us when her friends go home.

It looks like our trip will entail:

Reykjavic
Copenhagen
Prague
Budapest
Berlin (and possibly another German city, time permitting)
Amsterdam
Brussels
London

We'll likely end the trip with a few days in London. It's only an extra hundred (around 830 compared to 702) to fly out of London back to Reykjavic instead of Copenhagen (where we're flying in), so we might just pay that to avoid having to get back to Denmark and maximize our time in London. We're currently looking at about a twenty day trip. I'm booking the primary flight tomorrow, so I'll know for sure then. We'll probably also hit one or two other places not listed above for a day or so each. Possibly Vienna, Ljubljana, Venice, Zurich, or Montenegro.

We'll only be in Iceland for one full day and two nights. We'll arrive at around 11pm their time, so the first night is basically just some drinks and sleep, although we probably won't be all that tired since it'll be like 7pm EST. I doubt we'll be in Copenhagen for more than a day or two as well, so the meat of the trip will be everything else.

I'd love to do Istanbul too, but it's just kind of out of the way of our trip's current route. Maybe next time. The same goes for Barcelona, despite everyone's recommendations. We certainly considered it, but it looks like we're sticking to central and Eastern Europe for this one, plus London, but that was only because we found free room and board for a few days.

Still, thanks to everyone in this thread for your suggestions. I'd have loved to have hit all the places you mentioned (and probably will at some point in the future), and I think it's great we have a forum like this where people are so willing to offer ideas.

Nice itinerary. Envious. You should have a great time. Glad to see Prague make the list. Good call on London. When I visited it a couple years ago over the New Year holiday, I ended up enjoying it far more than I thought I would. Plenty to see and do there while on vacation.

Spent 3 weeks over there a couple years back. The highlights of our trip was definitely Amsterdam, Rome, and Barcelona.

Amsterdam is a great city with plenty to do. Lots of partying here, so its a great spot if you're single. Not a ton of sightseeing but beautiful women and drugs...

Rome had the best sight seeing I thought. Loved going through the Colosseum and Vatican City. Food is pretty good here but you gotta find smaller places on the side streets.

Barcelona had great beaches albeit ridiculously crowded. Nightlife was crazy here, tons of clubs and people everywhere. Reminded me a bit of NYC if you like that type of city life.

Another tip would be if you want to travel between European countries, Ryan Air is great. We booked a flight from Rome to Barcelona for about $80 a seat. Super low budget... we walked onto the tarmac and seated ourselves.

We've looked at Ryan Air for some flights within Europe. We're still working on our mid-trip itinerary, though, so that stuff will be dealt with over the next several weeks.

For lodging did you look into airbnb? We did 14 days airfar and lodging for all around 2300

A little late to this thread, but I was born in Croatia and my entire family is from Bosnia & Herzegovina, so I can recommend some spots if you still plan on passing through the area.

I was born Pula, which is part of the Istria peninsula... so I'm admittedly biased when I say Istria is the most beautiful region in Croatia. I'd recommend any number of cities on the peninsula. They all have great stone beaches and their respective "old city" areas. Pula has an ancient amphitheatre that sees modern use. Watching a film festival movie in there is one of my favorite things to do in Europe.

Outside of Istria, Split is a big party city on the Dalmatian coast. Hvar is gorgeous. They film King's Landing exteriors in Dubrovnik. Anywhere on the coast really.

Bosnia is probably not very one day friendly, but equally beautiful. If you did get a chance to spend a day, I'd recommend Sarajevo. It's the closest you'll get to Turkey without going to Turkey. Old Ottoman influence all over the old city with great architecture and the ability to snap a photo of mosque, church, and synagogue all in close proximity. Very rich in multicultural history.

For your purposes, anything on the Croatian coast would suffice. Most underrated beaches in Europe, in my opinion.

Too bad you couldn't go to France, as well. Went there years back and did a 3 week tour around the whole country.

I am a big history/WW2 guy and it was breathtaking seeing Normandy in person. Visiting the castles/churches around France, the architecture and the crazy ass food. You could run into good people, but mainly they sucked ass. Just like all the stereotypes. A couple of us did that Rosetta Stone and could ask around which helped some people be not as "needle-dicky", but expect it, if you ever go.

Nice was also a great place. I found this picture online but literally this was the view out of our hotel room. Small little roads with markets and nice little bistros/restaurants. Good local shopping. Nude beach if you are into that sorta thing :mf boobies:

So we booked our flight today. Based on flight costs, we finally decided to fly into Dublin. Probably won't stay there long, but we found a round trip out of Boston for about 575 bucks. When you factor in the flight from here (Charlotte, or Cleveland for my buddy) to Boston, it was by far the cheapest flight we found.

So now it looks like the plan is:
Dublin
London
Brussels
Amsterdam
Berlin
Prague
Budapest

And probably one or two other places for a day each depending on our schedule. We'll be gone effectively sixteen days, not counting the two travel days. I think we should be able to hit all the cities on our list. I don't imagine much time will be spend in Dublin or London at the start of the trip. We might spend a night or two in London at the end if my friend's free boarding pans out.

We almost caught an awesome, cheap flight to Barcelona, but the price went up significantly in the 24 hours when my friend was trying to clear his day off. It sucked, but what can you do?

Oh good, you're going to Prague. Two words for you: Karlovy Lazne

It's a nightclub. I saw the hottest girl I've ever seen in my life there. Well, let me rephrase that.

I thought she was the hottest girl I had ever seen... until I started looking around the club and I realized that virtually every girl in there was as gorgeous as she was or even more so. Seriously, I think I let my jaw drop open for like a minute. I've never seen so many unbelievably insanely gorgeous women in one place ever. And the best part is...

If you let it slip that you're from the United States expect to have several of these uber-babes follow you around and fawn all over you like your own personal entourage. Dead serious, dude. This is an absolute MUST EXPERIENCE place.
