Farewell, Richard Jefferson.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hard to say... He's 35 years old, so nothing is guaranteed. His performance could literally fall off a cliff.

Hopefully not, though. 2 years younger than Marion and unlike Marion, he didn't average 30 mpg the last 3 seasons before coming to die here. Jefferson has averaged 18 mpg the last 3 years.

Richard Jefferson makes James Jones seem redundant. Or James Jones makes Richard Jefferson redundant.

PG - Kyrie / Mo / Delly
SG - Shumpert / Smith / Harris / Miller
SF - James / Jefferson / Jones
PF - Love / Thompson / Christmas
C - Mozgov / Varejao

What kinda role can we expect him to play? I haven't kept my eye on him. Is he a shooter? Can he play D? Bye bye James Jones?

If he can shoot 40%+ from 3 it's a good move if he forgets to shoot like Miller and Jones though...

Hopefully this means James Jones will be moved to the coaching staff, whats the point in Miller, Jones and Jefferson all being on the roster.

He should be able to give us 10-15 decent minutes with good shooting, as long as he doesn't fall off the veteran cliff.

Mar, he averaged 18 mpg for a reason and it wasn't to extend his career, but because he's not that good.

Mo, JR, Jones, Jefferson give us plenty of shooting options off the bench.

Completely fair.

The flip side is, he's already adjusted to the role that he's being brought in here to perform.

For Marion, not getting the regular flow and minutes he was used to was an issue.

So that could be a plus, albeit a small one.

Plus Joe Harris if he can find minutes and Mike Miller if he ever hits another shot in the NBA.

I agree, but I don't think he fills the role of "backup for LeBron." He's not a dynamic scorer or facilitator. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that they are roughly the same height and happen to both play "SF" whatever that means these days. He stopped being that level of player several years ago.

I don't think the Cavs are done. At least, I hope they aren't done.
