Farewell, Richard Jefferson.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He kind of reminds me of an old Paul Pierce.

Or...Richard Jefferson.

Did we find him at the bottom of the same cliff as Marion?

Also if we do plan on bringing JR and Delly back, our roster is basically set.

I think that would give us 14.

Irving/Mo/Delly
Shump/Smith/Harris
LeBron/Jefferson/Miller
Love/TT/Jones
Moz/Andy

I imagine the 15th would be Kaun or Christmas.

Haywood traded for an exception.

Seems most likely at this point.

I agree, but I don't think he fills the role of "backup for LeBron." He's not a dynamic scorer or facilitator. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that they are roughly the same height and happen to both play "SF" whatever that means these days. He stopped being that level of player several years ago.

I don't think the Cavs are done. At least, I hope they aren't done.

I never thought we were equating a backup for LeBron with someone who could do the same role or comparable things. I mean that would be great but for the vet min? I was never one that believed Rudy Gay was coming here as our SG/SF 6th man, so my expectation for the backup SF for the vet min was always in the Prince, wright, Jefferson range.

If we get the TPE, we do at least retain the flexibility and means to perhaps upgrade from Jefferson midseason, though the odds might be small, they'd exist.

Ive watched a fair amount of Dallas games the past few years (Dirk is God), and don't expect a whole lot from RJ. He will provide the spacing that Marion couldn't, but his footwork has gotten pretty bad, and he looks constipated while moving around. That being said, he fits his game into those constraints, and is able to maximize what he is asked to do.

Like Marion, I would expect him to get solid minutes to start the season (not as many), but dwindle away in the playoffs. Expect 10-12, if he's legitimate, maybe upwards of 15. Anymore, unless he's hot for the night, is detrimental to the team. Expect Shump, Harris or JR to "play the 3" when we go small and we will be able to get more out of RJ in the long run, and reduce the wear on LBJ.

Would have preferred a young guy, but its a solid signing, and its cheap.

With that I leave you this.

You be the judge.

One of my least favorite players in the NBA...sigh. I ended up like JR last season so who knows.

If he plays like he did in DAL last year, it's a nice pick up to rest LBJ for some stretches.
No FA we added was going to set the world on fire.

Am I'm the only one who don't see Harris as a lock to make this team, not just his summer league forthcoming , he doesn't really bring nothing extra to the table, that you can't find on a 10 day contract type of player, to be honest I favor that small point guard Skye's (sp) over him.

Richard Jefferson doesn't add anything we didn't already have. And I'm not referring to the vet min per se, but the entirety of the offseason.

Again, going back to Griffin's statement, finding a '20-something year old two way wing.' This is not that. This is basically what Mike Miller should have been, but has nothing to do with reducing LeBron James' minutes.

In a vacuum, Mo Williams will have a much greater influence on James' minutes than this signing would. In context, again, it's a move that does make us marginally better, but it's not anything close to what Griffin alluded to.

I'm not against the signing, I'm simply saying this likely won't directly affect James' minutes.

I was never one that believed Rudy Gay was coming here as our SG/SF 6th man, so my expectation for the backup SF for the vet min was always in the Prince, wright, Jefferson range.

Rudy Gay? huh?

Upgrade from Jefferson? What do you mean by that? What is Jefferson's role on this team? Because as I see it, it's to shoot 3s and that's essentially it. Again, he's essentially James Jones, Mike Miller and an older version of JR Smith but slightly taller.

He's redundant.
