Farewell to Jarrett Jack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Without Jack, the Cavs fall apart in the first half. Solid presence. We got to see the "good" Jarrett Jack in his first game.

After praising him after the Nets game, I take responsibility for his steadily declining performance since. What a nightmare tonight, especially the lack of defensive effort. My bad.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Every time I watch him, I just try to figure out why Grant ever thought he would mesh with Kyrie and Dion...

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I like the intangibles he brings to the table... but I really don't like him as a player. Like at all. And I knew this would happen, because his game has always rubbed me the wrong way. I never paid a whole lot of attention to it because I never had to root for him, but my extreme distaste of his game has reared its head early.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Needs to step it up. Looks like he's playing half assed out there, no intensity, not playing like a vet that knows how to play winning basketball.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I knew about the offense coming in. I knew he looked for his shot, and he primarily wanted to take mid-range jumpers. Not a really great combination: Guy likes to shoot and preferably likes to shoot mid-range jumpers, but he's been effective at it most of his career. What I was really excited about was his attitude and his leadership qualities. But that defensive "effort" tonight was just appalling. I mean I have no trouble saying that had he been subbed out sooner, we win this game. He was that bad for a 6 minute stretch. Gary Neal was eating his lunch and Nate Wolters was going right around his ass. Was really pathetic for a veteran "leader."

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

We probably win tonight if he doesn't allow Gary Neal to explode off the bench, I want to see more of Dion and less of JJ......

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

The money we spent on this guy could have been used much more wisely. Could have gotten similar production from Darren Collison for $4 mil total. Another chucker.

It's 5 games dude. There is no doubt in my mind by seasons end there will be question as to which of those two players is better.

Call it a hunch, but something tells me Darren took a discount because of the team he was joining. Really don't think it's safe to assume the Cavs land him for that little... or that he would come here in the first place.

Jack is better but not worth blowing a good portion of cap space on to be a backup chucker. Theres a reason the guy has played on 35 different teams in his career.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

For all the things I like about Jarrett Jack the person, if he shot isn't falling, he looks pretty bad. His effort on D tonight was terrible. No excuse for that nonsense.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Jeff McInnis thought Jack played poor D in the 4th quarter.

One of my biggest concerns with this team is you have too many guys who need to be scoring points to give you any kind of positive impact on the game. Jack fits that mold.

Right now Jack is the only guy I'd put in that camp. Zeller falls into his own "never has a positive impact" camp.

Everyone else that I've seen is giving real effort on defense night in and night out to at least impact the game as best they can on that end.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Jack's value is when Irving goes down. There's really no need for him otherwise. He was signed because he's the best we could get. Beggars can't be choosers.

If that's the logic, I don't follow our front office. Waiters is most effective with the ball in his hands. If Kyrie goes down, we have Waiters to dominate the ball.
