Farewell to Jarrett Jack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I love how jack looks to push the rock instead of slowly trotting it up the court.

I love how Jack looks to never pass after dribbling around a pick and when he does he throws it at our big mans ankles. Because our big man with Chronic knee problems loves to bend down to retrieve passes. And only ever pass it to Bennett when he is as far away from the hoop as possible. Otherwise, he can get offensive rebounds from my shots I like to jack up.

Thanks for the inspiration here Wuck. Too much bad Jack and not enough good Jack.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

So, we've already got Chuck Jumpers, I guess this now gives us Jack Jumpers? Twin brother Jumpers...no?

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Honestly would like to see Karasev get some run with some of Jack's minutes.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Every time I watch him, I just try to figure out why Grant ever thought he would mesh with Kyrie and Dion...

Sure he looks for his own shot, but in Golden State he ran plays and rewarded off ball movement. I think CJ has been rewarded with good looks, but Kyrie and Dion haven't figured out how to be shooting guards yet. They are so reliant on taking their man off the dribble in the "flat" play, its reminiscent of LeBron under Silas.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

It's a shame about some of Jack's troubling tendencies...especially his shoot-first mentality and shoddy defense, because I don't know if he can ever change that in his game. There's still hope for guys like Dion, but once you've been in the league as long as Jack has, your bad habits tend to stick with you the rest of your career.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I don't know why even play him at the 2 at all. I understand he is this great back-up point guard but we are already a small team and Waiters and CJ are easily playing well enough to gobble up all the minutes there.

this
is the common misperception. When Jack is on the floor he is playing point. people in Baltimore would understand that .. hmmm

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I wish we still had Shaun Livingston, he seemed like a better fit with Dion and his defense is better than JJ who is just awful on defense, at times letting guys like Gary Neal go off on us... I am not a huge fan of JJ's game.....

I think Jack would be a great signing if we didn't already have 2 starting guards on the roster that have his same skillet.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

No, Jack is a shoot first guard. I think everyone was warned about that when he was first signed. No one should be surprised. It isn't changing at this point.

The only thing that has to change is the defensive effort he gave last time. That's unacceptable.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

When miles eventually gets cold, we're gonna wish we had another spark off the bench and someone better at PG than Delly. When Kyrie gets hurt, we're gonna be glad we have Jack. Yeah he shoots a lot, but thats his game and at least he is relatively good at what he does. Its not like hes playing 38mins a game anyways

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Some of you need to relax a little. No need to get worried this early. Jack is a veteran and he will be just fine. His turnover rate could be better. But just watching him play, I remember at least a few of those were him trying to force feed a pass to Bennett to get him a shot. I mean, he is acclimating to an entire new set of players so it's not crazy to think that he will need more than 5 games to get into his groove. We have already seen what he is capable of during that Nets game. Ya, he could use a little more effort in closing out on shooters, but the Bucks were hitting every shot they threw up that night anyway. I don't expect opposing teams to continue shooting unreal %'s like that when being contested.

The new expectations for this team have brought some people out of the woodwork on this board, most of whom need to be a little less reactionary. Did I really read that someone would rather have Shaun Livingston than Jarrett Jack? Come on now.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I found myself uttering an awkward cheer tonight. When Jack hit a three in the corner off an assist from Kyrie, I screamed "He went to Jarrett!!"

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Jack has contributed a lot to 2 Cavs wins, but there are more times when he has contributed empty and disappointing minutes, as against the Bulls.

I realize that Brown may have hoped for the 3-guard lineup to work two games in a row, or just to get that lineup more time on the court. But it also feels like Jack's leash is a lot longer than most other players. Is he contributing something I am missing on defense that Mike Brown would appreciate? I'm not getting it.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

I'm with you. No idea why Jack is allowed to run rampant out there for countless minutes. No one else gets away with it.
