Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

$1.1M only???

How much was Courtney Lee's sign and trade deal?

Also in the new CBA, trades salaries can be within 150% rather than 125% that it used to be. (unless that got stricken from the final version)

Makes matching salaries a lot looser and easier.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

No need to grasp at straws.

Bynum's agent basically confirms that the talks aren't serious enough for the Lakers to be giving us permission to talk to Bynum's camp.

It all points to a smokescreen from one of the teams involved. Most likely ORL or LAL.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Celtics to acquire G Courtney Lee from Rockets in a sign and trade sending back F JaJuan Johnson, sources tell Y! Details being finalized.

Courtney Lee has been shopping around and finally landed in Boston. Johnson will count around $1.1M vs the Rockets cap. Hollinger says other non-guaranteed contracts must be coming back to Houston.

Boston and Dallas are coming out of nowhere to quickly retool.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Neither Dwight or Bynum want to play in Houston, they would be dumb to send all that to Orlando for someone that would leave after 1 season.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

I love how people want this trade to happen so badly that they bash Jason Lloyd, who's actually doing his job, just because he's not reporting what you want to hear like everyone else. It's truly amazing. Guys, just temper your expectations a bit. There is a very good chance this doesn't happen and it's won't be because of Jason Lloyd.

There a team that just cares about staying competitive. They are not an organization playing for a championship. They want the marketing returns from a Lin + C combo. Then let them walk next year.

For fun.....

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Interesting.....so they save $2 mil in cap space for upcoming season and can terminate his contract next year with a team option. Any reason to look any closer at this deal from the Rockets perspective?

Lee was an unrestricted free agent. He was going off the books anyway. Rockets did the Celtics/Lee a favor by agreeing to a sign-and-trade (and upping Lee's salary in the process). Rockets are cornering the market on forwards and must have liked Johnson enough. It doesn't make a big difference in terms of their cap space.

If Lee had signed with another team that sent back equal and guaranted contracts, that would have been interesting. This is just a sign of the Rockets continuing with the same strategy.

8 by my count. Not sure that 1 of them can play C or SF.

This is what Wojo wrote, so if you believe him about Cleveland...

"Bynum, 24, has one year left on his Lakers contract, and has a short list of potential teams with cap space and supporting casts that primarily include the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets with the Cleveland Cavaliers."

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

They don't answer their questions all the time, publicly, unless there's something for them to gain.

I think you may be reading too much into that, but I think everyone's reading too much into all of this.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Houston cannot facilitate anything, he won't play their. No organization, unless run by David Kahn, would be so stupid as to give up everything it has for a player that has repeatedly told them he has no interest and won't play their. Orlando is pissing away any leverage they have by delaying these trades. He will leave for nothing if they don't do something soon. If I was Howard, I would have said trade me within two weeks or I won't agree to sign anywhere and I will leave for nothing. These organizations gave up control when they instituted free agency in the first place, which ruined league fairness in every sport, so stop being stubborn and trade him.

I sort of agree but we are going to gamble on the chance that Dwight won't walk away from $30+ million dollars (money he would lose in not signing with the team that has his bird rights). It worked for the Nets and Deron Williams. We have enough cap space in 2013 to sign another Max contract after Dwight so there you go.

We could entice Dwight to stay by making a run at any max free agent he wants or we could trade for one maybe.

With all due respect we don't want to Suck ass for 3 years and take a chance in the lottery.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

It's the new CBA that's making this so difficult.

If the new CBA is intent on keeping their star players in their own team then:

The new rule should be that a player who signs an EXTENSION w/ his current team can earn more $$$$.

Instead the rule is so free agency friendly, and that a player needs to wait after his original contract is over before signing a new contract get that extra $$$$.
