I missed the safari today but it seems like nothing has changed; we don't know shit. I keep hoping to come back and see the forum down, check Twitter, and see that we acquired Andrew Bynum.......

No Lloyd said it could happen but there are a lot of things that the teams involved are not on the same page. For example the cavs don't want to give up Tristan or any other young talent, and there are conflicting reports on whether they would include Andy. He said with how much difference between the teams and on top of that the bad contracts that would be involved make this deal unlikely but things can change quickly. He also said and I quote "It only takes one team to change the parameters of the trade to get this thing going".

He staunchly believes it won't happen:

Lloyd flat out says the deal won't happen at all. Wojo says deal can happen if Cavs talk to Bynum and his reps/get extension assurances.

Big difference.

I think people are failing to comprehend Lloyd's message. I don't think he ever said the deal would never happen. If he did, i know it was just to lower people's expectations. A lot of things have to happen for this type of trade to work and history suggests the its unlikely a deal can be made. I'm sure his twitter feed blows up with questions asking when the deal will be completed and with nothing definitive in the works, he's said theres nothing new to report.

Lloyd is being professional and not biting on the rumors. It doesn't make him distrustful, it makes him cautious and cognizant of his desire to be professional. He's not going to run with a story posted by another source, he does his own work.

David Griffin was on during the Cavs game, he played "dumb" when asked about the Cavs rumors. Said there are lots of fabrications out there. Shared some awkward laughs when Bynum was brought up by the announcers.

I wish GMs and coaches were never interviewed again. No one will ever say anything of interest other than the usual politically correct BS.

When Lloyd says the deal is not going to happen, he doesn't know what's going on in Grant's office or the Lakers front office all the way in L.A., it's just a guess. No one clearly knows what will happen. There was a different destination for Howard every week from different reporters.

Yeah...at this point Lloyd is just erring on the side of caution. Most deals involving three teams, two all-star players, and a borderline all-star big always fall apart. There tends to just be way too many obstacles to overcome and too many moving pieces to make it happen. I mean if Lloyd's wrong, who cares? It's pretty clear that he has little respect amongst most Cavs fans. If he's right, he can tell everyone "I told you so" and gain some cred with Cavs fans.

Woj reports factual information that doesn't lead us one way or the other. The deal is not dead, but the Magic are non-committal and the Cavs have yet to get permission to speak to Bynum. That's what we know.

He isn't feeding us any: "It'll happen," or "I don't think it'll happen."

That's how you report as a journalist and I respect that.
