Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Woj reports factual information that doesn't lead us one way or the other. The deal is not dead, but the Magic are non-committal and the Cavs have yet to get permission to speak to Bynum. That's what we know.

He isn't feeding us any: "It'll happen," or "I don't think it'll happen."

That's how you report as a journalist and I respect that.

Factual evidence? Where? Everyone is reporting the same rumors except for Lloyd.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

ESPN just said the potential hold-up is Bynum's "unwillingness to sign an extension with the Magic."

Thanks Captain Obvious

Why would that be a potential hold-up if Bynum would be getting traded to the Cavs.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Except for the fact that ESPN reports to the entire nation? And the majority of the nation isn't refreshing Cavs Talk?

If they follow basketball they know its Bynum to the Cavs.

Exactly. ESPN's own has said its Bynum to the Cavs but now they are saying its to the Magic. I don't read anything into it.

They replayed the interview of Rudolph from RealGM from this morning.

Lloyd on twitter, posting and reposting the same article he wrote 5 hours ago.

Yet the talking heads at ESPN are all getting paid 6 figures to not do their due dillegence.

Any news/info on the framework.....?

From the PD. Bynum's agent was busy today. Same basic gist as Lloyd.

Cleveland Cavaliers' trade for Andrew Bynum still more rumor than fact
Published: Thursday, July 19, 2012, 8:54 PM
By Mary Schmitt Boyer, The Plain Dealer

CLEVELAND -- One NBA official with knowledge of the rumored three-way deal that supposedly would bring Andrew Bynum to Cleveland, while sending Dwight Howard to the Lakers and Anderson Varejao and draft picks to the Orlando Magic, doesn't think it will happen and says new Magic GM Rob Hennigan is reluctant to trade Howard to the Lakers.

In addition, Bynum's agent, David Lee, says he has had "zero contact" with the Cavaliers and their general manager, Chris Grant, and doesn't know how they appeared on a list of teams the Lakers center would consider when he becomes a free agent next summer.

"I read the same reporting giving the Andrew Bynum 'priority list' for lack of a better term," Lee said in a telephone interview Thursday. "I was in Alaska. I was in Alaska with Andrew. I don't know where that list came from. I'm speculating maybe [the reporter] went through teams with cap space. I don't know what else to tell you. I looked at the report and learn something every day."

Asked if his client had any interest in the Cavs, Lee said: "I cannot tell you that. We have not had any conversations. With all deference to Chris Grant, who's really a great guy I've known a long time, he's not even allowed to call me because that would be tampering."

Various reports have suggested Bynum would be willing to commit to the Cavs for a chance to play for coach Byron Scott and with Kyrie Irving. However, the Cavs certainly would not proceed to give away the cap space, flexibility and draft choices they have worked so hard to acquire without verifying that interest -- nor should they, Lee said.

"I would like to think that anybody who is giving any consideration would be smart enough to ask permission to talk to Andrew or myself as opposed to just gambling that he'll fall in love [with a team and/or city]," Lee said. "I certainly think it would be foolish of any team to be involved in any conversations regarding Andrew without having a conversation with Andrew."

He said he didn't know the source of the rumor that his client was headed for the Cavs, nor does he have any sense of whether his client will remain with the Lakers. "I have no feel on anything at this point," Lee said.

The NBA official indicated that the only player he believed the Lakers would part with Bynum for would be Howard. Some believe Bynum is more talented than Howard, although Howard is more focused. Bynum averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game last season.

And while Howard is coming off back surgery, Bynum also has a history of knee injuries that have scared off the Magic, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Here's the problem, as I see it:

Everybody agrees the Bynum/Andy/Howard pieces fit and works. The problems are in the details, even if everybody signs an extension.

Orlando wants to get rid of some bad contracts too. If the Cavs take on another bad contract, and have to give Bynum a max contract, then there goes the flexibility to improve that team from a 4th-5th seed, to one that can truly contend.

Also, Orlando wants picks. LAL doesn't have any. So those are Cavs picks, probably 2 1st rounders, partially protected.

For the Cavs to become contenders, they will have had to have hit "home-runs" on Dion, Zeller, and TT.

That is a big price to pay to become the Atlanta Hawks.

Yes they are, that's why the server goes down when news hits. Try to keep up :)

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

AH I'm so pissed.

Got the latest PDCavsInsider tweet to my phone, read "#Cavs trade Bynum" at first glance. Then saw the "Still more rumors than fact" part.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Read Woj's article (the one that started these rumors) and you'll see that cle, dal, and hou are not his preferred destinations, only potential landing spots for him because all three teams will have the capspace. Bynum never said he wanted to come here.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

I suspect a announcement will be made soon that all talks have broken down and there was nothing ever close to a deal.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

What all of you need to do is open up two web browsers. The first will have this thread that you can continously refresh. The second will have a porn site of your choice. Spend about 80% of your time on the porn site, and the other 20% you can jump back over here and quick scan for anything decent. It really takes the edge off.

But he never said he didn't want to come here. We won't know anything for sure until the framework of the deal is in place like Woj says. At that point Cavs will have permission to speak with Bynum. At that point we will know if Bynum has any desire to play in CLE or not.
