I would like to sign either Marion or Battier this offseason, even if we have to overpay slightly on a 1 or 2 year contract. More than anything else it's clear that this team needs leadership, and those are guys who know how to play winning basketball. Ideally they could split the SF minutes 50/50 with a rookie like Anderson, McDermott, McDaniels, or Hood.

If we can't get Noah Vonleh in the draft, I'd love to see us sign Ed Davis away from the Grizzlies.

EDIT: misread. But still, wouldn't Ed Davis be redundant if we still have TT and Bennett?

I believe Battier is retiring after his season ends. I could be wrong.

Oh yeah, I meant to include trading TT for something. Kind of hoping we trade him and JJ for Asik, but that may be a pipedream.

I think Wesley Johnson would be a pretty decent, cheap (maybe) pick up for our bench.. Athletic, long, decent 3 point shooter.

I think we're undervaluing leadership though...Delly is the only natural leader on this team right now, and he can't be on the floor all 48 minutes or even close to it because we already have Irving and Waiters at the guard spots. My thinking is that we need to bring in a heady veteran who can be a leader on the court and make our young guys play winning basketball. Wesley Johnson is not that guy.

I would love to get Hawes back here, he was a pretty good trade and actually played well! And also get Sefolosha as well (if we trade Thompson away and get cut Varejao). Hawes and Sefolosha would be cool.

Or Robinson III ;)

Guys I think will be discussed by the Cavs this offseason as targets of various priority. Fairly certain at least one player from the below lists will be on the Cavs roster next year.

PG:
Just not seeing any way we add a PG via FA/Draft/Trade unless a drastic move is made.

SG:
CJ Miles
Xavier Henry
Unless we move Jack, I don't see us adding a SG. Just too much of a backcourt numbers crunch with Kyrie, Dion, Jack and Delly already on board and Karasev still unsure of his ultimate position(though I think its SF after some weight gain) and needing developmental minutes. If we do move Jack though, I really like how CJ played this year and wouldn't mind him back as the SG off the bench for 15-20 minutes a night

SF:
LeBron James
Luol Deng
Trevor Ariza
Jeff Green(via trade) - If Boston ends up in a position to select Wiggins or Parker, Green become very gettable. He may be regardless
Guys like Al-farouq Aminu or Wesley Johnson might be tempting if we strike out on bigger names but I just don't see the point of it as I don't see them as starters on a winning team and as a reserve they just potentially get in the way of Karasev/Felix or a SF we pick in the draft

PF:
Love(pipe dream of pipe dreams) - just don't think Minnesota blinks or Love demands untill they see how the team is performing come January
Pau Gasol

C:
Spencer Hawes
Marcin Gortat
Al Horford(via trade)
Brooke Lopez(via trade)
Pau Gasol

Was gonna create a top 10 Free Agent targets for the Cavs, but this thread will do.

So, these are the 10 best free agents, factoring in fit with the Cavs.

1. LeBron

2. Carmelo

3. Deng

4. Ariza

5. Lance Stephenson

6. Zach Randolph

7. Marcin Gortat

8. Thabo Sefalosha

9. CJ Miles

10. Josh McRoberts

Lord that's a depressing list. We've got the top two guys who are long shots. Deng who by every account did not seem to enjoy his time here and did not play all that well. Ariza, who if he could actually replicate what he's done this year, would be a great fit, but he's in a contract yet and this is his second career year that just so happened to coincide with a contract year. I'm wary. Then Lance Stephenson, who I would love if we weren't already the most immature team in the entire league. We couldn't handle him. Follow by an old Zach Randolph, who definitely would give this team something they desperately lack, but again, is old. I think Gortat would fit in nicely here but he's over 30. Thabo, CJ, and McRoberts are all good role players who can shoot, but not big time difference makers.

Note, some of these dudes have player options, so they may not end up being free agents.

Needless to say, I'm worried we have all this cap space with no one to spend it on. Were this year 2 we were headed into, no biggie. Just roll with it and wait. But it's year 4. Waiting and continuing to be bad while doing so won't cut it. Gonna need some home-run trade or I have no idea what the plan is. Throw a ton of money at Gordon Hayward (who had a down year) and hope Utah doesn't match and hope his year was just a byproduct of being on a bad team? Maybe. It's a gamble though.

Don't sleep on Channing Frye guys...he was quietly the third best player on that surprisingly good Suns team, and he worked wonders playing off of two ball-dominant guards in Dragic and Bledsoe. He would be a great fit here if he's willing to come.
