Re: Game 41 | Turnovers @ Utah | January 14, 2010 | 10:30 EST

As I have said all along Delonte should have been groomed to be the starter at the PG spot. Getting Mo was good and I like Mo alot, but I never thought he was a #2 money player on a great team. We got Mo for basically taking on his contract. I think the fact that Mo had some of his absolute best games against the Cavs the season before they got him played a part in the Cavs willingness to trade for him.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Delonte is a #2 scoring option for the long haul either, but Mo is just a pure shooter much like a Jason Terry or Ben Gordon. They are streaky and are great great 6th men type players. They all can play starters minutes but don't be surprised when they are not on the court. Mo can do what he does coming off the bench. Having Delonte as the Point Guard and then a player like Stephen Jackson or another good player at the #2 or #4 would have been ideal in my eyes (and then having Mo off the bench).

To me, Delonte plays at this best when he plays with the best. I don't think he has the personality to truly take advantage of playing against backups. If he is the backup pg, he usually tries to set up teammates rather than utilizing his strengths to be a scoring guard.

We are stuck with Mo, so lets get over that. Starting Delonte and Mo together might help to be honest. I know everyone is against this but the best scenario would be to start Delonte and Parker and have Mo off the bench as instant offense. People said they wanted Delonte's hustle off the bench. I guess I am in the minority I rather have Delonte's hustle all the time and Mo's streakiness coming off the bench.

I hope Mo becomes more consistent as the season moves on much like the rest of the team needs to. I hope I can eat my words along with some popcorn watching the cavs win a 4th time in that playoff series against the west's best!

I believe West should be starting next to Mo.... just like last year, with Parker off the bench. Something is missing from last year, and that's what it is. I also believe giving West his familiar role would help him with all other things as well. It would help Mo as well.

At least West can still come in and impact the game off the bench when he feels good. The only thing you'll find Parker doing off the bench is shooting jumpers like Boobie.

The Parker I saw against Bryant is the one I'd have to prefer starting, if I had the choice between him, regular Parker, and West. But at least if regular Parker is here, he MIGHT show up as the defensive Parker, once in a while.

But putting West there right now may not work all the time. He's really been more impacted than normal by the issues and if they show up at the wrong time, then we have to immediately go to the bench and Boobie would have to play more minutes because of that. West's energy is not to be taken lightly and his ability to be a point and focus on those duties really helps.

As long as Parker's minutes don't get too funky, I think he can still help a lot. But if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Utah loss doesn't count as "broke"...

Isn't it the definition of insanity to do the same things over and expect different outcomes? I just rewatched this game with wine in hand (I prefer it over beer) to not just see the missing first minutes TNT didn't show but to feel like shit going into tomorrow so I am more hyped for the Clippers game.
