Forgot to quote, but referencing Goldeneye.

One of the best things to do on Goldeneye was play Proximity mines on the bathroom level.

Put a timer on the game and bet one of your tech decks or something. Or your favorite POG, so your friends would actually play and not sit in the bathroom behind all his mines.

I know it is part of the blood sucking series, but COD-2 was one of the best in the series. I love watching Band of Brothers and remembering some of those "maps"

Fuck games now-a-days. I couldn't pick up a FIFA or NBA game and be able to dominate. Backing up in the post you have to push like 7 buttons. Back on NBA Jam you would just spit on your friend and then take him with a tomahawk to finish off the game. Good ol' days.

Complex was easily the best multi-player map in GoldenEye, and one of the best multi-player maps in the history of console shooters.

That map with proximity mines was ridiculously difficult. Thankfully, I was basically godmode with proximity mines, but still...so many damned hiding places for them on that one.

Dude COD2 even had cutscenes from the Military Channel between missions, that was my first 360 game and it was the fucking shit. The guns are all pretty balanced (the Russians were OP with the PPSH though).

around the corner to the right even had the piano in the street from BoB. It was so cool.

and if you havent played the "new" NBA Jam yet, you gotta. I shit on fools with Dwight or Carmelo

I also can't forget to mention how much of my life I spent playing civilization 2. Me and the Zulu's had a war which literally last weeks in real life. I owned half the planet, they owed the other half, both nuked up to the gills.

I am the best Civ player I know. Before I left Cleveland I would play with friends and folks I met online.... :chuckles: I'm completing the space race by the time they discover gunpowder. In Civ5, simply put, after I learned to play competitively, I have yet to lose especially pre-patch.

Warrior/Horse spam in the very first few turns to wipe out the nearest 3 civilizations... Adopting that strat has carried me through Civ2-5 except for Civ4.. Civ4 is hard as hell due to the problems with the corruption system.

The original Deux Ex was another classic, as batshit crazy and incomprehensible as the plot became near the end. I beat the game with various endings and I still don't really have any idea what the fuck actually happened. I'm pretty sure the Templars were involved somehow, though!

Also, kudos to this game for being almost impossibly difficult. I died in the damned tutorial...several times! Every segment of the game was an exercise in not punching your computer monitor in rage, but somehow the game was compelling enough to keep on suffering through it.

The amount of crap you could do in the game was just mind-boggling, and I loved the idea that you could get through the entire game without killing anyone. In fact, stealth was usually the best course of action, because the D&D style hit detection meant that you could be standing right next to a guy and miss trying to hit or shoot him, although they sure as hell never seemed to miss me. :chuckles:

So thank you, Deus Ex. Thank you for doing horrible things to me, repeatedly, but still dragging me back like a battered wife. I would replay you, but games have been pussified to the extent that I'm pretty sure I could no longer beat the first level.

At some point we should do a round of CIV 4, combat victory only.

Dues Ex
System Shock 2
Vampire: Bloodlust
Planescape: Torment

All of those games should be remade.

System Shock 2

They did recently (like in the past year or two) release System Shock 2 on Steam, so maybe that's a start. I agree, though, that it would be awesome to play that game with modern visuals.

That is another game that is almost impossible to play now because of what pansies modern games have made of us all. :chuckles:

Another gem...Warcraft II!

I used to play multi-player games of Warcraft II with one of my friends over a direct connection via dial-up. If someone called during the game, it would disconnect and the match data would be lost. Ah, the joys of prehistoric technology. :chuckles:

I think it says a lot about how good Warcraft II is that I'd much rather go back and play it than waste my time with the inferior third game. I just wish Blizzard would make another Warcraft RTS instead of endless World of Warcraft expansions. I know that's their cash cow, but I just can't bring myself to get into MMOs. I'm also still disappointed that their Starcraft third-person shooter never saw the light of day. I was looking forward to that game for years.

Anyone ever play this obscure PC classic???

Or this N64 beast?
