Gee Wiz...what's Alonzo's ceiling???

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The crowd was loving Gee tonight. He really had a couple of really good runs out there, and played solid the rest of the time. Good player for Cleveland to get behind.

If Alonzo keeps up the smart defense and keeps taking & hitting three pointers, he'll be a worthy rotation player in the NBA for a while. I'm taking his mid-range and close game for granted.

Too bad he's just not a little quicker and a little better ball handler. If he was, then he could play regular minutes at the 2.

I was wondering why he doesn't play the 2.

As great as he has been on offense, and despite his agression on defense, I saw him do some things on D that makes me suspect that with better oppponents, he might get burned. But of course, the same could apply to most of his teammates.

What I'm noticing with Alonzo lately is that he is a WAYYY better decision maker than last year. He is playing within himself, he keeps his head up looking to pass, and he also knows when to drive and when to pull it back out. He is also using the triple threat position way more now which is key for any young player looking to improve their game. If the Cavs end up taking Kidd-Gilchrist we could be looking at a stalwart defense featuring Kyrie Irving, Alonzo Gee, Michael the Kidd Gilchrist, Tristan Thompson and Varejao... LOOK OUTT!

I think Gee could fit the Ira Newble role very well. Hopefully we arent the team that ends up over paying him, but every team needs a hard nosed heady player or three that does nothing flashy but everything ok that is making 1.5 mill or under.

What's up with Gee? Just the ups and downs of a young player? Are we starting to see his ceiling? Seems like he has remained active on defense and gets some opportunistic buckets, but then just disappears. Comments welcome.

seems to me other teams are starting to notice his only real move on offense is that straight beeline to the basket he likes to do.

idk to me what he really needs to improve on is his dribbling. its not omri casspi bad, but it can get pretty bad at times.

He really needs to develop a mid range game. Tons of opportunities for him to produce offensively if he had a decent one.

Gee came back better this season so hopefully he can develop even further with another offseason. Work ethic seems to be there.

Agree with the midrange game. He either spots up for three or takes it all the way in (even when it isn't open), because he can't do anything in between.

This kid is a hard worker. Nice to keep him around. When some vets are traded he could be the veteran presence that the kids would look up to.

Comments like this mean nothing...and everything!

Although, look what Madden did for Hillis...

It is odd though that Gee is such a beast on 2K. Don't really get it. The guy ends up with like an 84-85 rating. Very weird and random.

Gee (and much the rest of our roster) just isn't going to give you much outside of an offensive system designed to create open shots and open driving lanes for them.

Well then it's a good thing that we don't have to worry about that then.

Gee fits Scott's system nicely, and he's still developing as a young player. I'm not sure his ceiling is much higher than the best stuff we've seen so far, but he has the athleticism to keep improving. And a good work ethic can overcome quite a bit.
