Getting Rid of Cable- What am I missing?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
so as of right now on the airplayer I have the 22 ora channels and the Sling channels all on one app.
It has chromecast and that's works pretty well.
I can also add a USB device for OTA recording

The control is pretty simple and intuitive. its real easy to navigate channels and I haven't felt the need to add a ubt keyboard.

Cahnell apps are limited though. YouTube and Netflix are integrated into the sling ui as is the ota recording device.

it s hulu ready ( screw you hulu)

big knocks.. apps like Amazon prime SYFY . USA. and WWE are not available but I can cast them from another device using the chromecast

Tomorrow ill try sideloading stuff.

YTTV question- Can I make my local are cleveland, or would it have to be Phoenix?

Unless you can sign up in Cleveland then use it once every 3 months in the Cleveland area. It won't even let me install the app on a cell network, I had to wait till I was on my home wifi to install it then it worked off the cell network.

Still playing with the AIRTV

I was able to sideload WWE network and Amazon Prime.

the box is based off of AndroidTV. . Amazon Prime has a port forandroidTV but im still looking for a good copy.

Kodi came with the box so I may try that as an option.

so far everything has been pretty stable. watched 4 episodes of lost in space on Netflix without an issue and a couple sling channels were running for hours without any noticeable interruption.

currently running the Airplayer on wifi.

chromecast works perfect.

If you have 4 or 5 TVs in your house...do you have to equip all of them with the stuff you’re all discussing?

I have 1 TV in my apartment. When I had 2, I had the FIREtv in the bedroom and the Xbox/OTA antenna in the living room.

Airtv has a has a box that that will send out OTA wifi signal to all devices in your house.
I got the one for one tv because it included internet channels.

this is nice for OTA channels
Sling Orange and blue combined allows up to 4 streams.

If your goal is to have local channels running to all devices the AIRTV box will do that. All your tvs though would need a smartTV or some other type of device like a roku or chromecast or AIRTV player for example.

I don't know if the AIRTV box will have the USB recording option which is beta right now. youll have to contact them

Anyone know if you can watch home games on ESPN+?

IE I live in columbus, can I watch Crew home games on it?

You can switch them around if you really want to. I like using a Chromecast on tvs we don't use much or for the ones we use as a second tv in the room. It's easy to use the app on your phone or tablet then cast it but if you use it for a tv you use alot your phone or tablet battery life will go down alot.

I also like having a remote for a main tv. We have a fire stick, Nexus player, and a smart TV for the ones we use the most. Personally I like having a smart TV but the Nexus player and fire stick both have remotes.

Chromecasts are cheap and if you get a 2nd generation one on eBay used they are like $20. There are fake one on eBay so you have to read carefully. That's one of the reasons I just buy them used and from a USA seller. They come up on Craigslist too. For a 1080p a 2nd generation Chromecast will perform the same as the newer ones.

Depending on what devices you already have, it basically will help determine which TV streaming service to get. The pricing isn't all that different but if you have to buy 5 devices to get everything set up it doesn't provide you with much cost savings.

Let us now what game consoles, smart TVs, and streaming devices you already own if any?

Updated question

YouTube tv- if I have someone in Ohio sign up, he’ll need to log in for me to have Ohio local channels? Will his card need to be used too? Or will it be off of individual accounts in the subscription?

Im not sure that will get you the Ohio channel you want. Its more than just the sign up portion of it. When I tried login with my phone with the app the first time, it wouldn't let me log in because I was on the cell network. I had to wait till I could get on my home wifi network for it to work. I think they want to verify it with IP addresses and location services. I bet any of the home specific devices like a Roku, smart TV, or Nexus player won't work out of market.

It seems like out of market access only like with NBA league pass and NFL Sunday ticket.

It looks like you can get the games with an antenna though for Crew games in Columbus since all of them are broadcast on the CW or ABC.

only one game is one espn and only one game is on foxsports. not sure about the playoff lineups.

for sling I got the blue packages. ESPN wasn't worth 20 bucks for me.

Most Crew games will be on the CW and AbC''s MYTV both available over the air

youll need the espn 1 2 and 3 for MLS playoffs

So I should get an over the air player rather than ESPN+. I have Youtube TV.

Just get an antenna for your HDTV. The CW should be real easy to pick up based on the channel number. Also it gives you a backup if YouTube tv isn't working or your WiFi goes out.

I assume you need an antenna anyway to use one of the air players. I would try the antenna first before adding the air player to the equation.
