Good TV Shows

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Boardwalk Empire
SouthLAnd

My favorite dramas, hands down.

Still haven't watched The Wire.

American Horror Story - Love the recycling of actors. Can't decide if I like season 1 or 2, better.

Girls - is a show I thought I'd dislike, but I like the corky aspect. The guy "Adam", great acting by him.

The New Normal/Go On - those are ok. Haven't fully invested into either of those.

Once Upon a Time - saw a half of an episode, didn't like it, at all.

Grimm- I have no idea how this show has lasted.

Then what the hell are you doing on this forum? Go watch it and report back in a week. :)

I dont know why everyone forgets how good Spartacus was a few years ago

I'm not in the norm here at all.

I watch "The Big Bang Theory", "Castle", and a bunch of educational shows on the History Channel and National Geographic. I guess I'm getting too old.

The wire is one of my favorite shows ever. I've watched it all he way through about 3 times. My wife likes all of these cop shows on netwirk tv But refuses toneatch the wire she says its sloe I'm re watching the shield now. May start homeland. My favorite network show was 24. Here are my top 10 must watches but are not in particular order

The Wire is slow. It's probably the most difficult great show to get into because the first season doesn't really take off until about four episodes in. Of course, this isn't a problem on repeat viewings because you know and love the characters, but almost every one of my friends I've pushed into watching the show struggled to get through those first few episodes. They throw a lot of characters at you in a short amount of time and it's an adjustment.

The best way to think of each season of The Wire is as a novel, as that is how they are structured. It's essentially the great American novel for television.

Spartacus is awesome. One of my favorite shows. It starts back up in a week with a new season.

There is still hope out there that they may bring back "The Colony" for a 3rd season. Love that show.

Can't wait for the new season of Boardwalk Empire. Towards the end of this last season, every show had me dying at the end to get to the next one.

Always thought Entourage left the door open for another run, maybe with Ari leading the way this time.

Sopranos was one of my all timers, but the way they wound it up was just awful. Terrible. Worse climax ever.

I can't stand "Don't Stop Beleiving" because of it. Every time I hear it, I think of Meadow trying to park that damn Camry. I had a lump in my throat because I was expecting Tony to die.... and then it goes blank.
From the director's standpoint, the scene was effective, because it made the viewer nervous. And it was stated in an earlier episode, that when you die, every thing goes black. So, he left that blankness for the viewer to decide if Tony died or not.

A new show call The Americans is coming out on FX January 30th. Looks like it is worth giving a chance to me. Might suck though, but the preview caused me to be interested.

:chuckles:

Is it possible to have a bad memory associated with a Journey song? I think my first slow dance was to Faithfully. Yikes.

I always viewed Tony as a bit larger than life, so I just couldn't see him dying(makes me think of all those crazy dream episodes when he was in the hospital).

I just hate such an inconclusive ending. I need closure!!

Ya, I like Southland, too. Isn't that about to start up again soon?

I think it's okay to leave some things up to the viewer to decide, but The Sopranos went way overboard in that regard.

I do understand that crafting a great ending is difficult. Many shows have been crushed under the weight of expectations. Most notably Lost, The Sopranos, and, to a much lesser extent, Battlestar Galactica. However, The Sopranos really stands out because Chase didn't even really attempt to give viewers a satisfactory ending, and rather seemed to go out of his way to make a controversial, unsatisfying one. That's what annoys me more than anything.

It will be very interesting to see if Breaking Bad is able to end in a satisfying way.
