I give this trade an "A". The only reason it's not an "A+" is because Love is not signed long term. I know he says he will and so on and so forth but the fact that anything could change during the season gives me a little pause. But still, you can NOT pass up a trade for two prospects and a late first rounder for the best PF in the game. Even if we win it all this year and Love bolts it would still be worth it.

A+
Kevin Love makes Cleveland an instant Finals contender. Something Wiggins, Bennett and Miami s #1 did not. Remember when we were looking for a stretch 4? Well now we have one, arguably the best in the NBA.
I'm pretty sure we were already a Finals CONTENDER no matter what we did. "Makes us an instant Finals contender" is greatly understating what Kevin Love does for this team. The word "contender" is just a bit odd. We're in the East.

So without trade Cleveland is at same odds of making the Finals. No fucking way.

-We got a 25 year old, perennial all-star who's an automatic double double night in & night out.

-The biggest asset we gave up was a guy many were skeptical about before the draft & hasn't played an NBA game yet, who's true offensive game & potential was not going to develop any time soon playing behind LeBron, Kyrie, & Dion.

-We didn't take on any bad contracts or anything Minnesota was trying to unload.

-We only traded 1 pick, and it's likely to be in the 17-20 range or so.

To add on, we kept all of our own picks, kept Memphis' pick (which is better than Miami's), and still have most of our assets to keep improving and adding on.

I'm calling A+

Considering the most valuable piece in the trade not named Kevin Love is a draft pick that hasn't played a minute in the NBA, I'm not sure how this trade is even gradable.

Regardless, the only way you can spin this as not a great trade (assuming everyone involved stays healthy) is if Wiggins becomes a top 10 player in the league. Even with that, it still helped the Cavs while LeBron was in his super peak. If Wiggins becomes a top 5 player in the league, then yea, probably ends up being a small mistake.

What Bennett becomes is largely irrelevant, because he doesn't have "star" potential. Could he become a good player? Sure, but that means absolutely nothing when you're dealing with acquiring stars.

Should we add the caveat that Wiggins has to become a top 5 with in his rookie contract time frame? At least in theory he could be signed and we have a few rings under our belt. I mean who really thought LBJ would have been back :)

I gave it an A.

An A+ would have meant not giving up the Miami pick in the deal. Other than that, we just got one of the top ten players in the NBA. Time to party!

I really want to give it a "I", as in incomplete. Ask me in a year. If Love leaves, or signs another one year contract, I give it an E if he leaves or a D if it's only another one year deal.

If he signs a max deal, I upgrade it to a "B". Why only a "B"?; simply because the Cavs blinked and gave a record haul for a one year rental. No team has given up as much. Check out what teams paid for Howard, Carmelo, Chris Paul, etc. Notice how no other team would give up much for such a trade. Despite the rumors, there is a risk that he leaves. This could be for injury to LeBron or some other reason.

The upside of Wiggins has high value, as does his cheap rookie contract.

If we win a ring, I'll upgrade it to an "A". If we do not, and Wiggins becomes a superstar, I give it a "D".

If I have to give it a grade right now, I give it a "C".

I love getting Love; I really dislike how the Cavs felt compelled to overpay for him due to LeBron's one year contract. There really was no one else offering much, so we really bid against ourselves, especially once Love indicated he only wanted to come here.

I may be in the minority, but I really don't think they overpaid for Love at all. And I honestly don't think the Cavs think they overpaid either.

-Waiters is more NBA ready than Wiggins.
-Wiggins' offensive game was not going to develop being the 3rd/4th option on that side of the ball.

To me (and to the Cavs, I believe), it's much better trading Wiggins & 1 pick than Waiters & multiple picks.

As I've said, the Cavs want to keep as many assets as they possibly can so that they have multiple avenues to keep improving and adding to the roster.

I'm not saying they gave up Wiggins because they want to keep assets, I'm saying that they'd rather have Waiters + most of their picks over Wiggins + having to include most of their picks.

For the fact that wiggins hasnt played a NBA game yet and Bennett was terrible last year I give this trade an A+

I think the cavs think they got a dream deal. They have managed to create a legit 5 year championship window. That was their aim as soon as lebron signed, not to waste any of lebrons prime. I would have loved it to come with an extension but that seems like it was never plausible, i just hope kevin love is a man of his word, certainly the current CBA makes it very likely he resigns even just for greeds sake

I voted B because although I am hugely psyched about this coming season and the next one or two after that, I do believe we have given up a big potential piece (or centerpiece) of our future. That being said, I'm OK with it now. I would have been happy either way I think, Lebron playing around a bunch of young guys with them learning and growing around the best player in the NBA, or trading a away a bunch of them to go ring chasing the next 3 years (but watch some damn good basketball).

You said "contender" though. You don't think we're a contender in the east without Kevin Love?

A for me

We get a superstar and who knows it might be why Lebron came back.

Hard to judge without seeing Wiggins on an NBA floor. It's going to be somewhere between an "A" and an "A+" for me. You pried a 25 year old stud in this league to a small market where he likely wouldn't have thought about going to prior to July 2014, AND you're the favorite to win the championship this year. The few people that voted "C" or lower should just have their membership here revoked..
