Greatest Moments Since 1964

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sandy Alomar's HR against Rivera in game 4 of the 97 ALDS.

This. With one swing of Sandy's bat I went from thinking the Indians were four outs away from losing that series, to thinking they were going to win not only Game 4, but the entire series. Just an electrifying turn of events.

One memory that sticks out to me is a game against the Red Sox in June of 1994, the first year at the Jake. The Tribe was down 6-4 with two outs in the ninth but came back to win on Albert Belle's single off Jeff Russell. IIRC the comeback came during the 11-game winning streak that really established the Indians as a legitimate contender.

Didn't the Indians come back on the Yanks down like 7-8? Maybe a rain delayed game. Sometime around 94-95.

My favorite moments, no particular order:

- Wayne Kirby walk off in Jacobs Field opener

- Kenny Lofton stealing home against RJ in 95 Divisional Series

- The Dennis Eckersley 'wow' at Manny Ramirez game winner ( don't remember year)

- Marquis Grissom dashing home in ALCS after Lenny Webster thought that Omar fouled off a sacrifice bunt attempt

- Jose Canseco introducing steroids to baseball

All great memories that made those 90s teams who much fun.

My favorite moment since 1964 was the bug game vs the Yankees in the ALDS. My dad and I were sitting in the left field bleachers and the crowd was awesome. The bugs did not faze the pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona.

It was Thomes last year before Dolan drive him off. Tribe came back by 5 I think on Mo Rivera. Won the game on a walk off grand slam by Bill Selby. Rivera retired after the game in embarassment. Good times.

I don't think that sounds right. The game I'm thinking of was a Pettite start, I think. Was Pettite in that game? And I believe it would have been well before Thome left.

Could this have been a different game?

Edit: Didn't realize it was sarcasm.

You don't get enough credit for the effortless humor you bring to the Indians section.

Just letting you know I appreciate it.

Thank you I try my best. Years of listening to whiny Cleveland fans has scarred me in a good way, like hydriotic acid burns. My phone's horrendous auto correct also adds to the quality, too.

Lofton's HR against the Sox in the '07 playoffs was even more exciting than getting him back in the first place. I was there live for that.

This ^

What was more impressive, @The Oi? Lofton's HR or the fact you got horrendously sick when we got back to Florida after berating me about how I was going to get sick the entire train ride back to Shaker Heights?

It was 2002, right after Charlie Manuel quit on the team. Tribe was down 7-0 at one point. Mike Mussina started for NY. Selby hooked a foul ball that had the distance the pitch before. Selby blasted the next cutter from Tomato Can Rivera out to right for Rivera's 4th blown save of the year. Walk off granny. 6 runs off No Rivera. Chris 'Spark Plug' Magruber began it all. Here is a YouTube video of the moment, apparently recorded with a potato:

You french kissed a dollar bill and ate a sackful of pennies you found in the transit station. I washed my hands 8,000 times a day and got walking pneumonia.

So the homer. And then our hand-holding after.

Definitely a different game.

This was '95-97 range. Almost positive it was '95.

Somewhere in the mix the Indians tossed up 20 on the Yankees- twice maybe? And maybe on the Reds as well.

How about Burba breaking his arm during warmups?

Found it...

Thurs, August 10th 1995.

Ironically, it WAS Mo Rivera but as a starter.

Came back down 7 to win 10-9.

No one has mentioned the first regular season at Jacobs Field in 94 which many of us attended. I still remember missing school and the comeback vs Randy Johnson and Terry Kirby winning it. The day before it had snowed. Magically it got up to 60 the next day.

John Smiley.

Good find on that Yanks comeback game.

The only 20 run game I remember is the 22-0 demolishing of them in '04
