Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
not going into details. but I heard a rumor about Oden and possible drug addiction. I'd rather not go into details because I have no clue if the source is legit.. just thought I'd let it be known

Is this different than what he's already disclosed about his alcoholism?

im no nba contract guru, but what about outbidding everyone else w a 2yr deal, 2nd year team option

we have space to burn, if he sucks after 1yr, we can dump him, if hes good we have him for 2014 if we try to lure a certain free agent back

So you mean a 3 year deal since Oden is not playing this year.

Why not take a shot at the guy? Not like he's gonna break the bank or ruin the cap space. If he doesn't work out, we can amnesty him or apply for a medical hardship right? If he can come back and provide a defensive presence off the bench with some rebounding, what's not to like? I'm sick of seeing Luke Walton play PF lol.

While we're at it, why not take our chances with this guy too?

We have already exercised the amnesty clause on Baron Davis, so we cannot use it again. Plus, the player had to already be on your roster anyway. If a player has existing medical issues, there is not going to be any insurance on their contract. See: Amare Stoudemire.

He's been on painkillers since his year at Ohio State, and we're wondering why he might have a drug addiction?

The rumor I heard is ecstasy suppositories.

yes. major drug addiction. a lot more than just alcohol. again, grain of salt.

I hope that isn't true. He seems like a genuinely nice dude. I still can't get the vision out of my head when he was introduced at the Duke vs. Ohio State basketball game last year, and walked onto the court like a 70 year old Bill Russell. His gait reminded me of a former NFL player that had just abused the hell out of his knees.

I just don't see how he'll ever be effective in the NBA again. His knees CANNOT support his frame. I've said it before, but he is just unnaturally big. Some big guys (7+ footers) are born to really big parents and its naturally in their genes. Greg's family is large, but not that big. And the tell-tale sign is when the guy is having his first surgery on his legs at 7 years old because one leg is longer than the other. He was a walking red-flag coming out of OSU, and he's way more than that 3 micro-fracture surgeries later.

I hope he does well and proves everyone wrong though. But Just don't see it happening....

I think you absolutely have to take a chance on Oden. The guys life was a mess and wasnt in good playing shape.

Fail upload of my cool MEME. ><><><

i wonder if we could require a piss test?? I mean if a dude is on opiates, perscription or not, fuck that. I know a lot of people who are in "pain" and get constant opiates....You dont want that dude in the locker room. Taking an opiate addict and putting him a bunch of young dudes is poison.

From what I heard opiates would be his problem.. He graduated from PKs into the big league of opiates..

Grain of salt again.
