Hassan Whiteside

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
24 rebs for CT2, tonight. Dude is off the hook!

Whiteside has nothing on the great Alex Kirk!

Monster game from him on the boards. Yet his team lost to a Horford/Carroll/Teague-less Hawks team in Miami so I'm happy.

Whiteside with 18 pts, 26 boards, and 5 blocks. Dude is off the hook.

This guy is crazy. Wonder if he can sustain his success after the season. Really great pickup for Miami. It's a shame with their aging team and dearth of draft picks that his prime will likely be spent on losing teams.

He is a FA after next year that the Heat have no Bird Rights to. He isn't stuck there.

So they can't go over the cap to sign him? How could they be so short sighted? So someone throws the max or max-lite at Hassan and they won't be able to match it right?

Edit: Just read into this. I understand why they did what they did. Who knew he would become a stud. The Dragic deal is going to cause them to lose Whiteside in 2016.

I mean, they gave him the standard two year deal that anyone gets. Guys coming in from being out of the league and performing like Whiteside has is basically unheard of.

I read up further myself, they will have limited Bird Rights that will allow a little more wiggle room but if he keeps this up they will need at least some cap space to make it work. But yes Whiteside will be unrestricted. Right now McBob n Bosh are the only two guys under contract at that time but 2 guys don't make a team. Going to be tough. Thing is I can't really fault Miami- who saw this coming? Not even them, really. Plus it is his agent's job to sniff out scenarios like that for his clients (a contract quirk that would limit his player like that, where an option can be declined but the team keeps control anyway) and avoid them.

They'll have his Early Bird Rights. Essentially the same thing as Bird Rights with contract length caveats. That's how we re-signed Kyrie.

Just imagine Whiteside on the Cavs with Mozgov coming off the bench as a backup C...
