Hornets want to trade players

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We're not trading Miller or Jones, as they are here primarily because they are friends with LeBron. Marion doesn't really fill a need for Charlotte, as his outside shooting isn't really good enough to be a major upgrade for them. I guess Harris is an option, but until he proves he can play basketball again he probably doesn't have a lot of value.

If only the Cavs had a wing player who was dissatisfied with his role, is still on his rookie contract, historically a very good set shooter, and whose minutes will go down if the team works Miller and Dellavedova into the rotation.

Their roster isn't that appealing. I doubt they'd be willing to part with Vonleh. The only players i could imagine making an impact on our team would be MKD and Zeller and i wouldn't call Zeller a "rim protector."

Maybe Biyombo? :dunno:

Maybe Biyombo? :dunno:

It's hard to make a big offer for Biyombo since he's still only 22, he's not a finished product in year 4 and he's going to be a restricted free agent next summer if his team thinks he's worth at least $5.1 Mil.

I've got a lot of questions about what his worth will be next summer. He could go from "not worth the qualifying offer" to "too expensive to be a backup" really fast. Is he on the edge of a breakout season or is he just getting showcased for a trade? When there's that many questions, it might be better for the Cavs to hold on to their trade chips.

Considering that Charlotte basically just gave us Haywood in the first place, I don't think they value that contract as much as we do.
I was saying that because I don't see how we make the money work without it. Dion+Haywood for Lance plus whatever filler would work. If we don't include Haywood, we'd have to wait until our FAs are tradeable, or include Tristan. It wasn't a comment on Haywood's desirability.

Nor do I necessarily think Charlotte wants to do that trade. Just that we pretty much would have to include Haywood to make this trade legal.

Biyombo is really the only player on their roster I'd want outside of Jefferson. Bismack is averaging nearly 6 blocks and 21 rebounds (8.8 offensive) per 100 possessions. He could serve as a Ben Wallace type player for the Cavs.

I'd take Biyombo and maybe MKG.

I would trade them Dion in a heart beat, but the problem is that after reading Lowe's article it sounds like they are having all the problems with Lance that we are having with Dion (lack of hustle, poor shooting, pouting when he doesn't get the ball). I'm guessing they wouldn't want another one of those guys.

The Cavs didn't complete the Haywood trade until July 12 2014, so Haywood can't be traded back to Charlotte until July 1, 2015. It would be possible for the Cavs to trade him to a 3rd team, which could in turn send someone to Charlotte.

As Larry Coon writes, " A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30)."

(I think they'll hang on to Haywood until next summer.)

Lance is over-rated, clearly.

Agree. He's not even that great of a defender, offense is terrible, and he's fucking crazy to boot. He's a great rebounder though.

Biyombo and MKG are the only players I would want and they're nothing to trade MKG.

Biyombo and Henderson for Dion and TPE.

We would get our rim-protector, who I think is ideal for this team. Henderson is not great, but it sweetens the deal for the Hornets. Hendo is good locker room guy and a good perimeter defender. His outside shot is shaky and his mid-range game is average, but that is the luxury of having Lebron, Irving and Love on your team: offensive deficiencies are less of issue.

While a team of Kembe, Lance and Waiters is pretty volatile, it's pretty clear Charlotte likes big game potential from their players. They extended Kemba and signed Lance. Waiters fits that mold, however between those three guys and Big Al, I don't think there are enough shots in a game to go around.

Do either of those guys fit directly into the TPE? It can't be combined with a player; would have to be two separate deals.

Henderson's game always reminded me of Wades to a certain degree

Why are we are in such a hurry to make a trade. The team is just starting to jell. Unless you are able to get the perfect piece and give up little why make a trade now. While I agree Dion has looked bad, it's 16 games in, he is a young player still learning his new role.

Ohh great, a new rook here, at the RCF...throwing poop and seeing if it sticks.

No thanks on Stephenson, he'd never come here.

You could structure two separate deals to make it work fairly easily.

Biyombo for the TPE.
Dion plus filler for Henderson.

I don't think the Cavs would be successful selling Waiters as the shooter Charlotte lacks. I think he is actually a pretty bad fit there with Stephenson and Walker.

And I don't know why Charlotte would basically give Biyombo away (just so they could flip Henderson for Waiters in a separate trade?). They aren't near the luxury tax level.

Now if Charlotte were to make a separate trade involving Stephenson, depending on what they got back, I guess it is conceivable that they could be interested in Waiters, especially if that were the only chance to get rid of Henderson.

I get why Douglar feels trading for Biyombo would be problematic. I think it is moot in that I don't for a moment believe the Cavs would want him in view of his lack of an offensive game and the likelihood he would damage their spacing, in addition to the reasons Douglar cites. That said, I am always intrigued by bigs who both rebound and block shots at high rates. Pairing him with Love might be a good fit for him.
