How about trading for Hibbert?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Might as well have said how about trading for a department store mannequin

he could be a great "buy low" kind of guy

Uh? He's on the hook for $30 million over the next 2, first of all. Hardly a "buy low" situation, considering he would wreck our financial flexibility. Secondly, to match that kind of salary we would essentially have to trade away many of our talented, young, and underpaid guys. So you can't really trade him for little in return.

This kind of terrible talent evaluation is exactly what lead LeBron to leave the first time around.

No. Thank you.

I don't get knocking Hibbert. He is one of how many 7 foot centers starting and capable of playing well? 2 Idk, 3?

Either way. The no show, etc. how much could we say this about a lot of our guys. But now we can pass off to 1. Mike Brown and ignore it because he is gone 2. Lebron demanding everyone get better.

I have to imagine the Indiana locker room was extremely, extremely disfunctional for how the season ended up. If you believe in Blatt, and believe as everyone knows that LBJ makes everyone better, and this time around is committed to making guys play and mentoring, anyone who has established themselves as NBA capable should get the benefit of the doubt. That or we just go back to knocking our own guys.

"No show" ok Lebron was a no show in Boston. But, then won 2 championships. Can Roy Hibbert be a championship Center. Um, yeah. Can or will we get him, we'd probably be very lucky to.

Possibility tripled.

He has a player option for 2015-2016 season....something to think about.

- Sent from my Galaxy s3 -

I've thought about it, and I still think I'd rather not see him in a Cavs uniform.

It will be really interesting to see what happens with the Pacers this season now.

Since Hibbert has an option for 2015-2016 and if he doesn't look likely to opt in and the Pacers season goes badly in the weak east I wouldn't be surprised if they traded him at the deadline.

Given his amazing decline, he would be incredibly stupid for not opting in. No way another team gets duped into giving him that kind of money again if he continues on this trajectory.

I wonder what the Pacers do here on out with Paul George out for the season.

I'd trade for Hibbert, but I don't like his contract.

I'd rather trade for David West.

I could see them moving there older players, tank get a lottery pick go for it next year.

Only way I do this is if Love does not happen then we have to try. He wont be asked to do what he did In Indy here so he will be much more effective. The Cavs have a few back up plans I heard. Hibbert was one I hear or read and not true if this could happen but a sign and trade for Monroe was another.

Hibbert is getting shopped really hard. Pacers offered him for Dragic, but the Suns rejected it. They are trying to trade him for Greg Monroe too, which maybe could happen considering Monroe wants out of Detroit, but Drummond or Hibbert are neither PF's at all, so I'm not sure that would work out.

I know he has got a lot of hate lately, and he played pretty bad last year, but I still think he could be a very good player. He showed flashes over the last 3 years of how good he can be. I feel like last year was an anomaly.

I would love him on this team, especially beside Kevin Love, but his contract is just a little too rich for my blood. I'd rather it be a couple million dollars less, even though he is about the going rate for a center and its probably fair money (when he is playing like he is capable). I'd just wish it was more like 12 million as opposed to 15 million. The big of the future we are looking for I imagine will be in the 10-15 mil range anyway. But if we could get him under contract, and then convince him to take more like 12 mil a year, but on a long term deal, I would love that.

We have a few options of how we could get him if we wanted. Haywood if we waited, but I think he will be gone before this season if Pacers had their way. So maybe Tristan, Haywood, and the unguaranteeds? Or trade the unguaranteeds for a player in the 5 mil range (like Barea's expiring), and then trade Barea and Tristan (and pick?) for Hibbert. I think salary would match on that. Or trade Andy's contract and another piece for Hibbert is the easiest financially and probably what the Pacers would prefer, but I don't see us giving up Andy. I bet we would even be willing to possibly trade Dion for him to be honest. Mostly because it is so hard to get a quality big like Hibbert, and Dion is pretty replaceable. Not saying I would, but we have options. This is a good time to buy low, and even giving up Dion is probably buying low.

All I'm saying is, a Love-Hibbert tandem down low would be perfect. Hibbert doesn't have to be "the guy" so I think he would be fine, and he can just concentrate on being a defensive presence and cleaning the glass.

I'm not sure what the Pacers direction is or if they view us as a "rival" and won't trade with us, but opportunities like this is what we need to scoop in and take advantage of. I'm guessing that the Pacers are definitely going in tank mode, and I'm guessing Hibbert doesn't want to be there anymore and requested a trade. Part of Hibbert's struggles on the court I think came from some chemistry/off the court issues as well with his teammates, so maybe all he needs is a change of scenery.

No, do not want immobile paint cloggers. Game has changed, your bigs need to be able to move.

This has always been his role. He's never been asked to be "the guy" in Indiana and out of the last two seasons he's had one good playoffs, and two mediocre regular seasons. He's way overpaid right now.

Well they did depend on him quite a bit. And he would be like the 4th option on the team here.

Anyway, yea I do think he is overpaid. But he is still a good center. And you know how the market is for big men.

Hibbert is an interesting case: he put up a bad PER of 13 something. Which is pretty bad when you're that big and you can't rebound
Still he seem to help their defense with a good defensive RAPM of +3

He'd probably work out well in Cleveland but it's a lot of money when guys like Dieng and Jeff Withey may able to provide the same at a fraction of the cost
Plus can you trust Hibbert in the playoffs? Against Miami in the critical games 3 and 4, he grabbed a combined 7 boards and +/- of -54! Just awful and I have no idea if that was Hibbert checking out or Miami figuring him out.
On the Cavs, I guess, he wouldn't be expected to do literally anything other then protect the rim and we might just be able to get away with with how good Love and Lebron are at rebounding and scoring.
