How do you cook it?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since it was a surprise breakfast in bed on Saturday morning I had to be kind of quick so she didn't catch me making them and ruin it. So I used Bisquick. Still came out fantastic.

Super salty!

I went for the cinnabon from scratch. The yeast I used is set to expire this month. I went ahead and used it and it didn't take. I still am holding out some sort of hope, but they aren't doubling in size like they should be.

The kitchen smells magnificent though. But I'm already defeated. I may try it again in a couple of weeks and buy the yeast the day I make them.

So disappointed.

Actually, they aren't terrible. They just turned out to be minis.

Need something to cook for mother's day. My parents are pretty old school and don't like strong/ethnic flavors or trying different things usually. The casserole, "Can I get that without (insert unique sauce or seasoning)?" kind of type.

You can always make something nice like Chicken Marsala, a nice steak, or even a spaghetti dinner. Casserole - depending on the type (I am not very familiar with any other than tuna casserole).

I want to try to make something French and that dish is Croque Monsieur- which is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. I'm trying to stray away from the usual Italian meals that I always want to make. This is going to take some thought as for what dessert and side dish I want to make with this. I just think I'll stick with a French theme.

But I'm also wanting to make a deep dish pizza in a castor iron skillet.

Chicken marsala would be a good suggestion but I don't think my mom even likes that...how boring. I do make a good chicken marsala (though not really anything to brag about, it's pretty easy).

Maybe I'll do something fun like grilled pizzas. Though I've never done that before and don't wanna eff it up.

I've always wanted to do a Chicago deep dish pizza in a cast-iron pan...let me know how that goes if you try.

Lasagna

Lasagna is a pain in the neck to make. It's delicious but know what you are getting into, or if it were me, I would make something else. I also hate people who are casserole people. I don't even hate the fact that they are casserole people, I really hate the people themselves. Make them a meatloaf and put a pube in it.

Well I guess they aren't casserole people any more, but that's what I grew up with a lot. I don't mind casseroles, they are kinda comfort foody and I make one every now and then. Cream of chicken soup, frozen broccoli, milk, chicken, rice, and cheese and topped with more cheese and crushed crackers...yum.

I like making lasanga, I do one for Christmas Eve every year, but i go all out and it ends up being like 40 bucks. Sauce from scratch, fresh mozzarella, etc. Ends up being like 40 bucks.

I think I'm going to do rice bowls with grilled shrimp and/or steak then have all sorts of toppings...shredded cabbage, corn, black beans, pico, avacoda-ranch sauce, srirachi, etc. So they can spice it up as much (or as little) as they want.

You are from Akron, try and make a homemade Swenson's meal. Galley Boys, Potato Teasers, Onion Rings and wash it down with a California/Florida and a milk shake.

You can call it Jortsons and make the family wear jorts.

If not, make your own pizza. The rice bowl idea is real nice. Steam your own rice, make a couple type of proteins (shrimp, chicken, flank steak) grill up some veggies and have a couple different sauces to have (teryaki, sriracha, orange, soy) and le them get creative with it. Maybe grill up some healthier tortillas, crisp em a bit so they can use their hands/fingers too.

50% of the dinner is about the experience. Give them a good one.

Are you cooking brunch or dinner?

If its dinner, showcase the BBQ. I'll give you my signature salad to go with it:

Fennel green apple salad

You need 2 fennel bulbs, 2 granny smith apples, 1-3 chopped green onions, one lemon, a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper.

Cut the fennel bulb in half lengthwise and remove that hard middle part at the bottom. Remove the core of the grammy smiths in the same way. Slice the fennel and apples super thin horizontal. If you have a mandolin, use it. Juice the lemon, season and toss with the olive oil.

The flavors combine and make magic!

The last two times I have used my mandolin I probably should have gotten stitches.

But that salad sounds pretty good, peppery and sweet and crisp and fresh. I would probably have to omit the green onion and black pepper though. My mom thinks black pepper is too spicy, and green onion might be too strong of a raw oniony flavor.

(yes, really)

For a milder flavor you can use fresh parsley or tarragon. In fact, I forgot parsley should be in there regardless. I hear you on the mandolin. If you own one, chances are you have sliced the crap out of a finger at some point.
