I think it's a matter of coordination. You can't always learn how to control your body better.

6'9 is not that tall but I'll give you the athletic. As a person that was never good at basketball but could still shoot it has always made me laugh how guys like Tristan can't develop a jump shot/ft. That is a matter of discipline and dedication imo.

I'll give him props for his high motor/hustle but there is no reason why a professional basketball player that thinks he is worth a 90 million dollar contract can't shoot within 15 feet of the basket. Our generation is lazy and feels entitled.

I have no clue what he will eventually get. If I were the Cavs I'd make him take the QO and (presumably) choose between playing for a lottery team (Portland or Indiana) and the Cavaliers (next yr) matching whatever he got.

He might get a 4/$80 offer, but I think it's highly unlikely, I'd guess something like 4/64 or 4/68. I'd be surprised if he got any more than 17.5

He's probably worth about 13.5-15. I'd draw the line at 4/$70M - which is 5/$77M if you add in the QO -- that 's the top-end of fair....

I'd call his bluff on his willingness to play for a lottery team vs. a playoff contender next yr. If he leaves Cleveland, I would bet his stats suffer tremendously...

My prediction is DG brings a brief case with 90 mil(big brief case bro) in it to face to face negotiations.

Smacks Tristan upside the head and says "this is the closest you will ever get to a 90 mil contract".

I voted other. As in, I wonder if an other thread about Tristan Thompson is necessary. No, it is not.

It is certainly possible that TT values having a starting role somewhere more than being a back-up big on Cleveland or another contender. And in the sports world, when they are trying to lure you to their City, every team will suggest that your addition to our crappy team will make us a playoff team in the near future.

To me Tristan wants his payday and his ring, so he can then move on and start somewhere else. He is going to demand the biggest contract possible, take his pot of cash and bust ass for 1 season. Only to bitch about not starting and demand a trade following the season.

I find the whole thing fascinating. But at the end of the day I am almost certain it ends with a 5/82ish deal.

If anyone out there really thinks he is a 12m/ player you haven't yet let the new financial realities of the NBA sink in yet. Warm bodies are going to get massive contracts next offseason as the cap explodes and 90% of the league is below the salary floor.

On the other hand, he has a really limited skill set that most of the league has been running away from (not big/strong/long enough to protect the rim, yet useless from >3 ft). I thought he was crazy for turning down the 4/52 before the season. But he did show us a lot in the playoffs. And given the paucity of FAs next year he very well could see a massive payday. Both sides have too much to lose to not get this done. And after watching this negotiation mirror the RPaul fiasco with Bledsoe last year I'm comfortable that this is his plan too.

I'm just glad we have another thread to bicker about Tristan's market value.

DG better work on building some muscle if that is the case.

Each bill, regardless of denomination, weights one gram so 90 million in 20 dollar bills weight close to 10,000 pounds.

Well , DG can surely get it in 100's so that is only 1 984.16 pounds.

BTW, why do we have two threads, isn't his ego big enough as it is?

The other thread doesnt have a poll? which is the primary purpose of this thread.

Well , I for one think we have one Paul too many [emoji3]

The other thread doesnt have a poll? which is the primary purpose of this thread.

The topic of this poll has been beaten to a bloody pulp over and over and over in the other thread. We've run through every conceivable permutation of words in the English language that could possibly apply to Tristan Thompson and his life as it applies to basketball, money, contracts, agents, and Canadian bacon.

Now that the poll has been taken, I'll close this thread.
