Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Shumpert is a perfect fit if he stays healthy

Shumpert is a throw in, expect little hope for a lot.

Nothing anyone here or there says, You are mistaken. The Cavs always had eyes in Shumpert. In fact the idea we got both J.R Smith and he with LeBron says something. LeBron pretty much wanted this and Shumpert and Smith were best of buds in NY and get used to this circus here. I like this as it says this city is ready to bring in. All I can say is just wait till J.R Smith becomes our most loved and hated player come play off time.

You may think that's his talent level but he was the target of this trade for sure.

The thinking behind it is he can play perimeter defense which no one else on this roster can. That will help with dribble penetration which lessens the need for a 'rim protector' in theory. Doesn't eliminate it but lessens the need.

Jr Smith is a 6th man spot up shooter at the 2-3 position. Something the Cavs wanted Dion to be but would never accept. Also JR Smith + Brendan Haywood = 16+ million in expiring contracts, 6 of which is guaranteed, to trade next season.

The 1st round pick will be collectible either this year or next and most likely will be used in a deal to acquire more talent.

Dion Waiters' skill has always been there. His attitude has held him back in the NBA. Until he realizes this, he will remain the same maddening player he is today. Therefore, IMO we maximized his value in this deal. His talent warrants much more value but there are serious questions whether he can develop that talent into reliable and consistent production.

As I sit here the day after the trade, I don't love it but I understand it and I accept it. I wish Dion could get his stuff together but time after time he showed he couldn't. Assuming JR Smith doesn't go completely bat shit crazy, we picked up better fitting pieces in the deal. We will see if it works.

I will beat this like a dead horse but shump between Bron and Kyrie is going to be freaking great and then we still have Miller, Smith, and Jones off the bench. Once we address a big this team will be something again. I applaud Griffin aka LeBron for having the balls to do this out of left field trade. I liked Shump a lot and to get Smith and a first with him is like. .

Perhaps this could be what might have been had they been able to have Wiggins..lengthy defensive SG.
As Phills14 said I don't love the trade either..I think Griffin could have done a better deal at some point and gotten better return (I hate seeing teams get exactly what they need-Dallas) but I don't know what future deals would be there.

Is this the thread where I pray JR doesn't start?

Dude this is ages ago dude can't play d that well anymore not only that he lost athleticism from his injury.

He is 24!!!!!!!!!!!! And was looking up a scouting report on him...he ranked 6th in the NBA in 2013-14 among guards on defense

Regardless of his talent level, with the addition of Shumpert, him, K-Love, and Irving just became the best three-headed rap machine in the game today. I'm a glass half-full kind of guy...

He won't start. We need the bench scoring. Shump will be the starting 2 as long as he is healthy.

The SG position has been terrible this year. With Shump, Smith, and Miller, we should get steady production from at least one of them every night.

Windy said on Rizzo's show this morning that he talked to people last night who said Shumpert might be out for another month.
