Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs extended a qualifying offer to Shump just now (sorry if this was already posted) according to my BR team stream

Maybe but realistically we have no other option. Smith is a guy you can let go, TT and Shump really are not.

Shumpert's defensive versatility is so difficult to find on the open market. It allows LeBron to take the lesser wing player on that end of the floor, letting him roam for blocks and steals and also conserving energy for his offensive game. Shump also has the ability to guard PG's, which lets us hide Kyrie on lesser SG's if he has a poor defensive matchup. Again, an incredibly valuable luxury.

True perimeter defenders like Shump are very hard to find. Ones that are only 25? Impossible. Of our 3 role playing FA's, he's the hardest to replace IMO and given his impact on LeBron / Kyrie, from a defensive perspective, he's a no brainer to match just about anything IMO.
The main cog in that NY trade was getting Shump ..I liked his play when he wasn't hurt.

shump misses around the rim so much bc of his handles. ''he focuses so much on them he cant lay the ball in the hole.

I just hope he can stay healthy. As injury prone as anyone on the roster.

What kind of offer do you guys think Shump will get on the restricted free agent market? 10 mill?

Actually, only $8M for Shump. $2M goes for high fade maintenance. That could be the poison pill clause.

Speaking of that fade, when Shump re-signs with the Cavs, can we have a 'Shump Hair Day' like what we do for Andy, where everyone at The Q must be wearing a fade wig at all times? If his defensive tenacity and overall high-level of intensity doesn't sell you, there's no reason why experiencing a moment such as this should not.

Guesses I have heard range from $7-10M. I've not heard anyone suggest he would get more than $10M -- maybe a tad over $40M over 4 years.

But we'll see. If a team strikes out on Danny Green and is scared off by Wes Matthews' health, and have the available cap room, it's not unthinkable that team would offer more. They've got access to the same salary tables we have, and some team may figure at some point Gilbert will object to the tax he'd be paying to retain a 5th option.

We've now entered a different world with respect to free agency spending. Teams know the cap will rise faster than they can spend.

If we can't retain Shump would anybody be against looking at KJ McDaniels? Kind of the same player for what he brings just not as proven
